Nordic Trax brings you another promising talent in Newcastle producer Cristoph. Rich with experience in deejaying and musicianship, Cristoph’s ‘Big H’ EP comes forged as an effective collection of bass-driven Deep House that’s been road tested during his sets in Ibiza and across Europe. A relative newcomer, Cristoph has already had a #1 on Defected which found its way onto Radio 1 and in Groove Armada’s season-closing set at We Love (Space). Meanwhile, longtime NT supporter Nacho Marco delivered his knock-out remix of Big H which made its world premiere at the closing of Sonar 2013 broadcast on national radio across Spain. The future looks bright for Cristoph.

Big H chugs out of the starting blocks with reverberated congas and syncopated hat sequences.Nifty melodicism and tenebrous vocal chops sit above a robust foundation as tension continues to climb to the close. Nacho Marco’s remix wades in with neatly mapped percussion ahead of some allaying synth tones and a rich bass pattern. The vocals glow through piano stabs as tension lifts and falls throughout.

VMC kicks off with palpable claps and hats swinging alongside panned vocal chops and a taught kick. A hypnotic synth sequence skewers through the mix before vocals are layered to handraising effect whilst the Dub version keeps things anchored down with a slightly more brooding atmosphere. Waal is a jackin and physical production. In a manner akin to Eats Everything, muscular bass patterns and immaculately plotted vocal shops gambol in and catch the listener off guard. Tension climbs in a stretched rise that’s guaranteed to satisfy prime time dance floors.

Fresh off the back of his ‘Snake Skin’ EP on Avotre, Leeds-based DJ & Producer, Josh Butler, is back again with a dark, club-ready remix of Vidaloca & Piem’s ‘Lullaby.’ Another master class from the UK producer, the remix is out now on Leftwing & Kody’s Lost Records and is available to stream below.

Stripping back the original, Josh focuses on a swelling, sub-bass groove accentuated by signature percussion that methodically slices through the composition. The heavy reverberating claps and syncopated hats form the backbone of the track, endowing it with a commanding tone as Josh once again proves his ability to create a perfectly balanced soundscape. The finished product is sublime – a primal cut, warm and full, rendered with marked precision. With the raw industrial tone of the track specifically geared for the dance-floor, the remix will no doubt see huge airtime across the club circuit. Josh’s remix of ‘Lullaby’ features alongside a Max Chapman remix of the B-side ‘Sturdiness’ on Vidaloca & Piem’s ‘Lullaby’ EP.

Josh’s distinctive, Chicago-inspired sound has garnered him praise from some of the industry’s most esteemed figureheads such as Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer and Derrick Carter. Following acclaimed excursions on Hypercolour (‘Needs You EP’) and Will Saul’s Aus Music (‘Child EP’) last year, George FitzGerald is preparing to make his return to his Hotflush home for the first time since 2011. Premiering in FitzGerald’s debut Radio 1 Essential Mix last month as part of the ‘2013’s Future Stars’ series, ‘Thinking Of You’ is scheduled to drop as a Beaport exclusive on 18th March, with full physical release and accompanying tracks to follow in May.
 
Having displayed his innate understanding of how to craft a musical narrative with the Essential Mix, ‘Thinking Of You’ turns to the darker realms of the dance floor imbued with the same kind of precision-tooled grooves, nuanced melodic touch and emotive shades that have garnered him such praise in the past.
 
The last twelve months have been extremely busy for FitzGerald as he continues to capture the attention of industry heads and fans alike with his refined and emotive homegrown club music. Releasing music on his regular home Hotflush, as well as Will Saul’s Aus Music imprint and the acclaimed Hypercolour stable, not to mention his own burgeoning ManMakeMusic imprint, FitzGerald's flourishing discography continues to grow steadily but impeccably.
