On this episode of DAB, Tun sits down with two established rappers from Chicago by the names: Ohana Bam and Femdot. Bam and Fem have an interesting story, whereas they both have been rapping and making music for about 20 years and have also been best friends for 20 years as well. We first start off our conversation with how the two initially first met, which was on the playground in the 3rd grade playing football. We go on to discuss how they start making music together at a young age and how their individual love for music made their bond stronger as friends. But in the midst of them becoming closer, Bam reveals that in high school friends of theirs would try to start a revival between them in an attempt to break them apart. We go on to discuss how they deal with the competitive edge that they need to have to survive in the music industry. As well as discussing how they keep each other on point and on their A-game. Later we then transition in the conversation to the tragic story of him being shot 28 times on his birthday 7 years ago, and how that changed him and his familys life forever. After that we discuss about how he used that situation to go harder with the music and understanding he had a gift that he needed to capitalize on. He is Guitarist for some of the most elite stars in the world, a Producer, Base player, Drummer, Song writer and one of the most talented musicians the world has ever seen, Rob Gueringer aka "Freaky Rob". We first start off our conversation talking about how his musically journey began, and he let us know that he's literally been playing with instruments since he was 2 years old. His first instrument that he ever played was the drums, but later transitioned into playing several other instruments like guitar, Bass, the piano, French horn and more. We talk about how his raw talent got recognized early by his music instructors, and eventually found himself taking instruments more serious because he started doing small paid gigs while he was still in high school. Rob later reveals he was supposed to go to Berkley in California for school, but ended up capitalizing on a opportunity which allowed him to move to LA. Once in LA, he enrolled in a performing arts school, were ironically Quincy Jones just signed an artist and they were looking for someone to play guitar, and when he got the opportunity to perform for Quincy's people, they were blown away! We go on to discuss how he had the once in a lifetime opportunity to audition for Kendrick Lamar the for role of his lead Guitarist, and how is preparation and being ready for the opportunity when it called changed his live forever. He goes on to give us details of how he had to survive the rough streets of Chicago, as well as going back and forth to Arizona during high school. Frsh later goes into detail about the wrong decisions he ended up making which lead him to being homeless, and eventually getting locked up for 4 1/2 years. We start our conversation with Niko talking about his upbringing, and how it was growing up in the inner city of LA. We discuss his journey of finding his own style and way to fit into society without conforming to the pressures that come from the influences in his environment. Niko tells us how having a positive role model like his older brother, kept him on a straighten path towards success and figuring out what he wanted to do in life. With Niko attending Fairfax High School, and having a unique set of friends and a reputation in the city for being one of the "Cool Guys", it gave him the momentum he needed to now pursue rapping and making music full time. After Niko graduated from High School, he was blessed with a major opportunity to do his first ever feature on a song with a legendary Los Angeles Hip Hop Artist by the name of Dom Kennedy. That song that he did with Dom Kennedy would later be featured on a classic hip hop album called "The Yellow Album". We first start our conversation with getting a little background history about Ninjer and exactly where she came from in the Chicagoland area, and Ninjer lets us know that she was born and raised in a Northern Suburb of Chicago, by the name of "Evanston". We go on to discuss about her upbringing and how it was for her growing up in a Haitian household. She tells us about how she transitioned from being active in different extra curricular activities in High School, but later ended up going to The University Of Illinois just to please to the wants of her Haitian mother. Ninjer also reveals to us on DAB that she had went to school to major in Business, but secretly wanted to go to Columbia College in Chicago to pursue a career as a "background singer". We fast forward then to the "smoke break" where she tells us a wild story of her living in "The Jungles" in Los Angeles. On this episode of DAB, Tun sits down with a local Rap artist who is on the rise,  as well as being a Los Angeles native who goes by the name of "Shiesty Ave". We first start off by him giving us a little background information on how he grew up as the youngest of 6 children coming up in Los Angeles. Shiesty talks about how he grew up with having his father very active in his life, and how from the beginning his father had a major influence on his life. He goes on to explain how when he was younger he was involved in football heavily and his mother got him into doing small roles in commercials due to his look as a child, and his mother having connections in the Entertainment  industry. We later transition to talking about how it was his father who got him into music due to his father being heavily involved in music. Shiesty let us know that because of his Dad he was around Rap legends like Bone- Thugs and Harmony and Wu-Tang's Ol Dirty Bastard. We later discuss how things happen in his life that cause him to be involved in the street life, which he says it became difficult at times to focus on the rapping because so much was going on in his life and in the streets to the point where he ended up going to jail. But we then focus on how he has become a father and how his son changed his life, and gives him the motivation to grind and pursue what it is that he's passionate about, which is the music. On this episode of DAB, Tun decides to go international with his special guest and has a Mongolian Barber and Creative Designer who goes by the name "NABA'", on the show and things got VERY interesting. The conversation first starts off by Tun introducing NABA, but then instantly being inquisitive about the Mongolian culture which NABA was more than happy to give insight and extensive detail about. NABA first explains where geographically the country of Mongolia is located, which is in East Asia. He then goes on to talk about how he as a Mongolian man has to constantly correct people when they think that he is "Chinese", just because people always assuming he is because of how he looks. Later on, one thing that Tun brought up was the fact that in Mongolian culture, respect and honor is a HUGE thing amongst the Mongolian people. NABA then goes on to explain about how things specifically like your "Hat" or "Belt", has to be treated a certain way when presenting it or putting it away, because as Mongolian people they believe those two things have certain level of honor to them. The discussion continues to get more and more interesting as we drive deeper into NABA's upbringing and his experience in Mongolia. To the point were we then discuss his love for basketball, and his infatuation with Hip Hop music and westernize Hip Hop Culture. NABA goes on to drop a crazy fact about how he ended up learning to speak English was through rap music and watch "And1 Mixtape Vol. 3". On this episode of DAB Tun sits down with the mutli-talented and beautiful Evanston, Illinois native Ebonique. Ebonique is a Singer, Song-Writer, Actress, and Model whose been friends with Tunde for almost 10 years and they both moved out to Los Angeles from the Chicago land area about the same time back in 2013. Unlike most of the guest that's been on the show this season, Ebonique has been one of the first guest that Tun has had on the show more than once, as this is her second interview on DAB. But this time we get a bit more insight about her background, her journey and her experiences while pursuing her career out here in LA. We first start off our conversation with Ebonique discussing how she grew up on the Northside of Chicago in a Northern Suburb called "Evanston". She goes on to talk about how she went to College at University of Illinois, and she originally studied Broadcasting, because she wanted to be a News Anchor, but later when she actually got into the field once she graduated, she realized that wasn't the career path she wanted. She then goes on to tell us how she saved about $10,000 due to being able to stay at her family members house because she had been in communication with her best friend who lived in LA at the time who was avidly telling her that she needed to move to California. Once she made the move she realized how difficult and challenging LA was, but she was determined to succeed. Also she had caught some momentum coming to LA because she ended up being signed by one of the biggest Commercial Agencies in LA named "Daniel Hoff Agency," whom she is still signed with til this day. We continue our conversation talking about the LA lifestyle and how this city has changed drastically over the years, but in the midst of our conversation, Ebonique drops a Exclusive fact about herself which catches Tun and T. Reg by complete surprise. Ebonique out of nowhere reveals that her middle name is "Lebron", hence why the episode is called "The Real Lebron". On this episode of DAB Tun sits down with a Celebrity Chef, Non-Profit Founder, and Modesto, California native Chef Natalia. They start off the conversation talking about her upbringing and how she grew up in Modesto, California with her mother, step father and five step siblings. Natalia goes on to explain how she practically grew up on a farm and also ended up being a huge fan of country music due to her upbringing. Our Co-host T.Reg then goes to ask her about her ethnic background which she then informs us that she is a Assyrian-Iraqi American. Natalia goes into detail about Assyria, its history and how it is today, the country of Iraq. We then discuss about the family dynamic of being Assyrian and how they are extremely close and caring of each other, even though they tend to have family feuds and fight, but they always love each other. We then transition to how she got involved with going to culinary school and her love for cooking for her friends. She stated that she didn't even know that she was a good cook until she would be having gatherings at her apartment when she moved to LA, and all her friends would love and crave her cooking. She realized that cooking was not only something she was good at, but something that she had a true passion for. We talked about how she took a leap of faith at a wedding and asked the Chef that was catering a celebrity wedding she was at, if she could be his intern. That leap of faith ended up getting her the opportunity to cook for the Detroit Rapper Tee Grizzley, and eventually cooking for Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis. Reg, and a entrepreneur, father and business owner here in Los Angeles. Channon owns his own Clothing brand called "FULLY LOADED CLOTHING", as well as a storefront in the heart of the Crenshaw District where he sells his merchandise as well as throws events for people in his community. We start out our conversation with Channon talking about his upbringing and family influenced here in LA. We discuss how he grew up on the infamous 55th street, which is known to be Crip gang territory and recently been glorified by people across the world due to the uprise and fame of the internet sensation, "CRIP MACC'. Channon talks about how growing up on 55th street was a wild experience for him as a child, with having parents who we're heavy drug dealers in the 80s and 90s and siblings and family members who were heavily involved in gang life. Although Channon grew up in a hostile environment, he was a born hustler, as well as an athlete which kept him focused, busy and out of the street life. We later discuss how growing up the way he did gave him the biggest motivation on how he DID NOT want to live his life, as well as how much better of a father he wanted to be to his two young sons. We continue our discussion, by diving into the concept of fatherhood and entrepreneurship as well as some wild stories and circumstances that he faced while growing in South Central Los Angeles on 55th street. On this episode of DAB Tun sits down with Houston native by way of the Northside aka The Nawf side, who is a Comedian and Actress currently living in Los Angeles by the name of Chelcye Perry. The conversation starts off a little spicy with our co-host T.Reg calling Chelcye out as a hater of the city, due to her funny side comments about Los Angeles men. But Chelcye later clears up her overgeneralized comments by elaborating on how with her being a "Southern Belle" at heart, its some things that she is just accustomed to due to her upbringing in the south. We go on to discuss what it was like growing up for her seeing as she is an only child, and she goes on telling us about how she had a great childhood, but also realized earlier in her life that she aspired to be a entertainer of some sort. Chelcye reveals that although she is a tall women at 5'9, she never had a interest in playing sports even though she ran track for her high school, but yet her passion ended up being public speaking because she was on the debate team. The experience gave her the confidence to be out spoken in front of a group of strangers as well as be able to stand alone in a male dominated field. We later transitioned our conversation to how she later went to college but found herself not being focused, and ended up dropping out and joining the navy. Our conversation continues as we discuss her trials and tribulations that she goes through which she ends finding herself in California, pursing entertainment as an Actress. Chelcye was having success in her acting career but it wasn't as fulfilling as she hoped it to be because she was constantly having to wait for opportunities to be seen as an Actress. But it wasn't until she saw a fellow Comedian and now a peer in stand up comedy by the name of Ron G perform stand up comedy, which sparked a fire and passion for comedy which eventually got her to pursuing comedy as a full time career. On this episode Tun sits down with the Emmy Award winning dynamic rap duo and legendary products of the west side of Chicago, The Freaky Boiz. We first start off our conversation talking about what it was like for these two growing up on the westside of Chicago. Even though they went to revel schools where violence and gang activity was constantly around them, they found a way to build a bond and become close friends at an early age in life. Due to their upbringing being so rough, they stuck together through their love for entertainment, as they both were apart of a local dance group in Chicago. Although faced with several trials and tribulations because of the harsh environment and extreme circumstances they had to over come, the both of them ended up going to college and attending Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. At SIUC, is where their lives changed forever because they were one of the first internet sensations to go viral due to their famous impromptu freestyle that they did in their dorms and uploaded to YouTube which made them overnight local and national celebrities. Not only did their freestyle catch a lot of notoriety, but they set the path and opened the door as the first male rap duo who were openly representing the LGBTQIA community. Because of their new and unique rapping styles and raunchy lyrics about their lives and experiences as openly gay black males, they developed a celebrity status which eventually got them to appear of the nationally syndicated radio show, "The Breakfast Club". We later go on to discuss on them catching fame early as young college students, that allowed them to gain a large following which later contributed to them moving out to Los Angeles to further advance themselves in their rap careers. We discuss how them coming out to Los Angeles, right after college allowed them to experience a multitude of adult life trials and tribulations which gave them the understanding of what their true calling and purpose was in life outside of just being entertainers. And that calling and purpose eventually leading one of them to become and Emmy Award Winner as well as a Guinness Book Record holder and the other to develop a love and passion of being a school teacher as well as an entrepreneur. Richie has gained notoriety in Hollywood through his work with All Def Digital & HBO's Insecure. In this episode we are joined by tattoo artist, painter, entrepreneur, & Chicago native Katrina Jackson (@kattatgirl) a.k.a " Kat Tat!!!" Kat is widely known for her role on the popular VH1 reality series "Black Ink Crew - Chicago" and now she has transitioned to Los Angeles where she has ventured independently to open up her up own tattoo parlor @EnigmaBeverlyHills. We begin our discussion strolling down memory lane. Tunde and Kat reminisce on their high school years at Homewood-Flossmoor in Chicago, IL and tell us about some of the wildest things they've witnessed during that time. Kat gives us a little background on how she developed the passion for tattooing during her senior year in high school. She talks a little about people not taking her seriously initially but she was driven to make a name for herself through the art. During her freshman year at the University of Missouri, she became known as Kat Tat Girl around campus. She mentions how before she found her passion, she was always "little sis" or "Jared's girlfriend," and through her creativity she forged her own identity. Having been in Los Angeles for two years, she still goes back to Chicago to visit family and talks about the transition from leaving Black Ink Crew and the opportunities that have presented themselves to her afterward. Her shop took 3 months to build from a burned down building to a brand new tattoo shop on Pico.  Now a full fledged business owner, Kat explains the steps to opening your own store, being an entrepreneur, & believing in the vision you have for your business. She was that "black girl that played soccer" as she mentioned she played the sport for 12 years. Hassani studied at Arizona State University where she received her B.A. in Sociology and a double minor in Africana Studies & Mass Communication. She talks about her love for the show "The Game" specifically Wendy Raquel Robinson's character, Tasha Mack and her boss mentality. Hassani then details her rise in comedy and her aspirations to work in Hollywood. She worked at the Laugh Factory for a few years and started producing her own shows shortly thereafter at venues such as The Ice House & The Comedy Union. She talks managing egos and setting boundaries in a male dominated industry. Hassani shares a conversation she had with Dave Chappelle during the time she worked at the Laugh Factory. In this episode, we sit down with Rapper, Producer, and Westside of Chicago native Kid Breeze (@theactualbreeze). We start off our discussion with finding out that Breeze began rapping at 13 years old, but didn't actually start releasing music until he was 18 yrs old going into his first year of college. Breeze would attend SIUC (along with Tunde and Vic) and he tells us about how he became apart of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He elaborates the importance of getting apart of prestigious organization and transitioning from the streets the being more professional and organized. We then talk about going how him and his production group which is called "The Shipmates", moved out to Atlanta and producing beats for other artists. Unfortunately ATL wasn't the area for Breeze and his partner, due to the different environment and not being the city vibe that he was used to, so moved back to Chicago because he felt he never utilized all of his resources in Chicago first. He discussed how producers and musicians make money and how it can be a misunderstanding due to technicalities. Out of nowhere we find out that Breeze used to be a athlete, and that he played basketball growing up but unfortunately found himself loosing $100 in a one on one game.
