"For Love to Grow" is a call to humanity to take a look within their hearts and see whether love is growing or not. Like a tree, branches and leaves will often die, depleting energy from the living parts of the plant. The only way for the tree to get stronger, is by shedding it's dead parts to make space for new growth. In the same way negativity and hate take away the life giving energy of love, peace and happiness. The song is a call, to "cut out the negativity, make space in your soul, for love to grow".

You may be asking yourself what do you mean, what color is your love? Does love have a color? For me, the album name and song is about how I met my wife and the love we share, nurtured through the years, from college to now. But beyond the personal story of my interracial relationship with my wife, the song and question touches on deeper themes. 'What color is your love?' embraces all humanity as one global family, regardless of race. The term race is inaccurate because we are one race, the human race. All the peoples of the Earth share nearly identical DNA. We're generally not black and white, we are different shades of brown based on the melanin in our skin. This album touches on many themes from the highs and lows of love to war, peace and the environment, but if you walk away with anything, 'What color is your love?' is a celebration in the beauty of oneness, breaking down barriers and borders, to connect our ears and hearts with one universal love!

I'm working on a new album that uses beat box for the drums and this song "Vocal Booth Commute" is one of the first singles. I wrote this song, April 21, 2016 the day Prince died. Feeling kinda down on my commute home from work, I began freestyling in the car to lift my spirits. The Hollywood traffic was bad but the song brought me joy in the midst of the chaos. I came up with a few key verses in the car and beatboxed the beat. When I got home to the studio, I finished writing the music and lyrics that night. Prince said that if he had to categorize his music he would call it "Inspirational". This sentiment and Prince's funky soul inspired "Vocal Booth Commute" so if you're feeling stressed on the daily grind, turn up your radio and sing this song!

Dust9 is a Los Angeles, CA based singer, guitarists, beatboxer, song writer and producer with the reggae rock stylings of Sublime, the thoughtful, heartfelt song writing of Jack Johnson and the experimental blues, rock, hip hop mashup sound of G. Love and Special Sauce. He has performed as a solo act and in a variety of groups and bands since 2005, playing throughout the east and west coast of the U.S.. Dust9 mixes the social-political consciousness of Bay Area hip hop with the laid back, surfer rock reggae styles of So Cal, into a Cali hybrid mix of sonic sensimilla. The message is enlightening, the music is eclectic and the vibes are positive.
