The DUSTAPHONICS “Johnny & Bo”
This is the  4th album from London Town’s hot- test rhythm&blues, surf-rock’n’roll combo, the mighty DUSTAPHONICS! Like its col- lectable predecessors (Burlesque Queen, Party Girl & Big Smoke), this record is a mix of killer Garage Groovers, Rock’n’Roll Rave-Ups, Soul Slammers, Surf Sizzlers
& Perfect Pop, all helmed by legendary producer DJ Healer Selecta. The title song is a tribute to two of the Dustaphonics, greatest influences: Bo Diddley and Johnny Ramone, whose unique guitar styles influ- enced zillions of musicians the world over, including of course all the Dustaphonics’ members.
Also included is an ode to Serrano’s friend Tura Satana (actress best known from
her high-kicking jinks in Russ Meyer’s
cult Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!) who sadly passed shortly after the first single of The Dustaphonics which she co-wrote. There are more killer originals e.g. 2 contrast-
ing versions of the uber-catchy “You Don’t Love Me Anymore” (an uptempo garage punk version with one foot in 1966 Texas, the other in 1977 London, and a high octane R’n’B version complete with a honking horn section). If pounding surf is your thing, this unreleased vocal version
of Dusta’s classic,“Listen To Showman Twang” will have you hanging 10 with your toes on the nose. Of course if groove is your move, you’ve probably already shaken your “thang” to the New Orleans funk of
“Q Sounds Groove”, as broadcast on the world’s no1 soul’n’funk radio show by the one and only Mr. Craig Charles.
“Dreams on Screen (Dolce Vita Dream)” is a laidback slice of perfect cinematic pop; ideal for kicking back and chilling to, even better with a ”Cachaça” cocktail on Copacabana
beach dancing, ‘vintage surf’. Another one to get your toes tapping and your groove a- grindin’ is, a slinky version of Billy Gales/Ike Turner’s “I’m Hurting. And as if that wasn’t enough of a marvelous mélange of musi- cal mayhem, everything draws to crashing crescendo with a breathtaking run-through of The Specials’ classic “Gangsters”, re- arranged with a surf edge by Yvan Serrano, the closing track “Love Jinx” is a top notch instrumental “Hammond” garage mod-rock- er, perfect for a ride on Sunset Boulevard. Tura Satana Kill Kill

Some groups are capable of doing things more intensely than others. The Dustaphonics is a group that knows how to grab your attention and get people dancing. The music is a fantastic mash-up that details their musical influences, from booze-soaked 1950s rhythm and blues, vintage stomping ‘buttshaker’ soul, ’60s garage rock and british beat/r&b,Vegas lounge, sleazy grind instrumentals and surf guitar. And the whole deal is sealed and delivered with the spirit of ’70s punk.

Although the influences are vintage, there is something remarkably and distinctively fresh and progressive about their songs that takes the music beyond simple imitation and infuses it with tremendous energy and passion.

The Dustaphonics features: Hayley Red on vocals; guitarist and producer of the project, the acclaimed disc jockey Yvan Serrano (aka Healer Selecta); on drums  Eric Frajiria; and Dan Whaley on bass.
