According to Plato, Atlantis is a legendary island that was lying either in the Atlantic Ocean or in the Mediterranean Sea. Due to a natural catastrophe of gigantic dimensions, the whole isle with all its inhabitants sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune." 
I tried to project the enduring mystery of Atlantis with darkly tinted elements of both Ambient and New Age sounds. I hope you like it. (c) 2013 Dustin Nägel

Getuermt: The Homecoming

from the soundtrack to "Escaped!" (2014), an action packed short film produced by Michael Kleinfeld and Oliver Weisskopf. The two bolters reach a road at the end of the woods and manage to hijack a car, one of them brutally neutralizing the driver. After a hot chase with police forces, they are shocked to find that a little girl has hid herself on the backseat. The two cons get into a brawl about what to do with her. Fighting aggressively, they stop the car and get out, punching the crap out of one another. The psychopath (con 2) immobolizes the reasonable one and hunts the child back into the woods. On a clearing the girl stumbles, falls to the ground and con 2 prepares himself to deal with her. Suddenly, con 1 appears, stabbing the other man in the back, almost killing him. which enables the girl to escape.

Getuermt: Car Chase and Showdown

from the soundtrack to "Escaped!" (2014), a short film produced by Michael Kleinfeld and Oliver Weisskopf about two prison escapees on the run. Having left behind their pursuers, they come across a hunter's lodge. There con 1 has buried some useful equipment (new clothes, weapons etc.) a long time ago, foreseeing his getaway. They sneak around the hut and find a young woman inside. After a little tryst with con 2, con 1 sees her dead body through the window, apparently murdered by his psychopathic companion.

Getuermt: Sneaking and Peeping

from the soundtrack to "Escaped!" (2014), an action packed short film produced by Michael Kleinfeld and Oliver Weisskopf about two prison escapees on the run. This is the incidental music of the opening sequence, showing two bolters in prison overalls running frantically through the woods, trying to escape their pursuers. 
At a certain point I used Wagner's tristan chord. I wonder if you can find it ;-)

Written for an upcoming adventure game with an outer space setting. This certain piece  accompanies the main character being stranded on  an idyllic shore line of an alien planet. The main theme is a somewhat spherical 8 bar tune  in the mixolydian mode.

Original composition from 2008, revised and re-recorded in April 2024. It's a little piano fantasy in C minor, inspired by the Eifgental woodlands around my hometown Burscheid, Germany. And yes, I am quite fond of this place. :)

For a  long time I wanted to write something like this: a flamboyant "final fight" track with broad, heroic themes swirling above driving ostinati. While the last bars in asymmetrical 7/8 meter surely feel a bit overloaded (with syncopated choir fills and such), I am quite happy with the overall arrangement and the final mix.
Originally this piece belongs to the score I wrote for a student film project from 2005.

Journey Onward (Film Version)

Large-scale overture for a non-existent adventure movie with an old-schoolish Hollywood touch to it, inspired by classic swashbucklers such as Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, The Crimson Pirate and, more recently, Cutthroat Island. It was recorded with a whole array of orchestral VST libraries in a MIDI-based sequencer.
