A bit of history.
Ekstendia (real name Andrey Afanasiev) originally from the cold Murmansk in Russia. Passion and love for electronic music came in 1998, when Andrey first heard acid techno and acid trance tracks. Since 2000, he acted as only vinyl DJ. Since 2002 he has actively participated in club life. Played on one stage with Burnski (James Burnham), Falko Brocksieper and other equally interesting DJs and producers. In 2012, together with his colleague Mød, created a project Aima, that promoting dark industrial techno sound. In 2015 Andrey created the project Ekstendia, that focused on deep dub sound and which today is the main.

Sergey Efimov aka Les Volga started his career as a DJ in 2002, performing mostly at private psy-trance and dub events by Mental Traffic Promo during 2002-2010, and then turned his passion to techno music. Since 2010 Sergey has been taking part as a DJ in many events including DEEPLAY - still one of the most famous series of techno parties in Ulyanovsk. He published his music on many famous labels including Hello Strange, Superordinate Dub Waves and others.
Now Sergey is interested in slow deep/dub and minimal groove sound, constantly working on music production and label collaborations.

Asphalt Layer, aka Tommy Harrison, is a DJ and producer from Manchester who have been released on such labels as ODrex, Hello Strange, Echogarden, and many others. If you believe Facebook, he is very responsive to messages and it seems all is not casual, because Asphalt Layer is also an active public figure. Together with another musician - Wilson Logan, they organized music DJ project Quadrant Soundscape through which lead 'Dub Explorations Radio Show' on Dusk Dubs Worldwide Radio and 'Detroit Techno and House Show' on MCR Live in his native Manchester, that shows us the versatility of this musician because it's completely different in its style show. The podcast turned out the autumn mood, in this Asphalt Layer has shown us their best side, demonstrating sustained dub sound with echoes of ambient. And Yes! If you will be on October 28 in Berlin, you can attend an event called 'Odyssey of the Senses' on which Quadrant Soundscape will play a DJ-set.

"I started out the mix with an unreleased original song. When I wrote it, I knew it would be an opening track for any dj set because of the long and cinematic intro that goes for about 4 minutes. Second track, Desolate, is by Breno Mos, a friend of mine whose EP just came out in December 2017, and it complimented my song really well because of its strong lead. Other songs in the mix are from my favorite labels Steyoyoke and Qilla Records. Kohra and SHFT are both Indian techno producers and I play a lot of their music in my sets because of their sound design and overall structure. Steyoyoke has a balance of great sound design and amazing melodic elements which I love. Lastly, I’ve included Last of Us which is a original tune that got released on ADSR Recordings last year."

The impetus for the creation of this series was to dive as deep as possible into the culture of electronic music around the world and to introduce this to all of you. The first guest was the DJ who took part in our podcast series "YY podcast". This is the person with experience more than 20 years, with excellent taste, his music selections will not leave anyone indifferent. Meet - DUBOKO DEEP, Zagreb, Croatia.


YY:
How long are you into electronic music? How it all began?

DUBOKO DEEP:
In the late 80's I first heard and immediately got hooked on electronic music. About the same time I went on the first party, acquired the first electronic music on vinyl and started to play music at private events for friends.

YY:
Name the places (clubs, bars, promotion group) in Zagreb, which, in your opinion, affect the culture of electronic music in the city (country) as a whole. Or that you would be advised to visit guests of the city? Than they are attractive?

DUBOKO DEEP:
In the early nineties there was a big boom of electronic music, but over time the wave from the explosion subsided. Now the culture is again gaining momentum. In Zagreb, there was a lot of clubs and bars, where playing and listening to electronic music. Clubs and bars, as the Masters club, Funk club, Katran club, Podmornica, Boogaloo, Depo -  the quality of the party was always on top.

YY:
Give local producers/DJs whose activity you are impressed and why?

DUBOKO DEEP:
From the local artists/DJs I can highlight Petar Dundov, DAV aka Davor Stošić, Bonaca aka Petar Šuškić, Felver, Mary, Ilija Rudman, Zarkoff, Eddy Ramich.

YY:
Do you know the labels from native Zagreb? If so, maybe some you are impressed? Why?

DUBOKO DEEP:
Imogen Recordings, Burek Music, Out Of Place... Just because they are very diverse and innovative.

YY:
What is the future of electronic music on your opinion?

DUBOKO DEEP:
It's difficult to predict all changes very quickly. I personally still think that the organic sound is based on modern technologies and it makes me happy.

YY:
How long are you into electronic music? How it all began?

CK:
The main impulse to engage in electronic music, the DJing and producing, I got in 2012 at the age of 30 years. That was the first time I attended a DJing course at Subbass DJ Academy in London.

YY:
Name the places (clubs, bars) in London, which, in your opinion, affect the culture of electronic music in the city (country) as a whole. Or that you would be advised to visit guests of the city?

CK:
I think it's ’Fabric‘ and ’Ministry of Sound’. ’Ministry of Sound’ is more vivid and, I can say, mainstream, while ’Fabric’ is definitely the best underground club in the world.

YY:
Give local producers/DJs whose activity you are impressed and why?

CK:
I can go to Rico Casazza and Daniel Poli, these guys are really expanding the musical boundaries.

YY:
Do you know the labels from native London? What are close to you in their concept?

CK:
I can definitely select 'Wiggle‘, which has existed for more than 2 decades, headed by Terry Francis, Nathan Coles (resident of ’Fabric’) and Eddie Richards (godfather of house music in Britain).

YY:
What is the future of electronic music on your opinion?

CK:
My personal opinion: we will see a gradual decline in interest in culture after about 2020. After the trend passes, I think the most passionate and devoted figures will remain on the stage.
