Edition 10 of this samurai-themed serial compilation, and finally we feature a Japanese artist: REMAIN SILENT, regular producer for Engage Blue’s Narcoplepsy, with an eerie piece of slow and distorted filth. Add a darkcore banger by DUSTRIALIZER, a hypnotic buildup piece by UNDEFINED MOVEMENT and crushing doom/industrial by Traumatic regular HAVOCKNOIZE to fathom the obscure realms.

With Dustrializer, Dark. Descent. presents a young talent – and with young we mean actually too young to buy booze in his country of residence, the USA. But no doubt he cooks up industrial awesomeness like an old hand: Three tracks that get the balance of sturdy kicks, distortion and sparsely used vocal samples spot-on right. Dustrializer surely takes no detour on his way to the industrial dance floor, the natural habitat of these three fine tunes, which have been branded with a nice signature flavor in the shape of a unique bass wobble. A confident player for the underground waits to be discovered!

Hot on the heels of his much regarded debut, American industrial hardcore talent Dustrializer delivers his sophomore EP for Dark. Descent. In accordance with the release title, he’s up for some serious darkness this time. While “Beginning of the End” and “Distorted Reality” are midtempo bangers with distortion, sparse samples and minimal melody lines, the title track descends into doom altogether – destined for a darkness of sturdy kicks amidst a sonorous sonic tapestry and an uneasy pulse. One can feel the unadulterated passion for this style leaking from this youngster’s amazing production!

Don’t rub your eyes in disbelief; it’s the official transatlantic wunderkind collaboration right here on Dark. Descent.! They kick it off with the mind-blowing novelty track “A Garden’s Tale”, an anthem with neo-classical allusions carried by plaintive strings – which are substituted by some fierce throbs of 303 halfway through. The title track then tones down the avant-garde attitude and is nothing less than a fine club banger in the grey area between industrial techno and hardcore, ultimately fit for stoking up the floor proper. Possibilities lurking.

The 100th release, a special occasion for a special label: Dark. Descent. has been living up to its role as a progressive maverick among the industrial hardcore scene, more daring, more versatile than others, thus creating a distinct label sound, bringing together a unique international artist roster and earning passionate recognition. Let’s celebrate this with no less than eight hours of music: 80 tracks by almost all of the people who have released on Dark. Descent., 21 of which are all new. A very limited CD with 15 of those tracks is also available, and that fine edition comes with an eight-page booklet containing the cover artwork of all 100 label releases, the entire download version of course – and the exclusive bonus CD single + digital track “Sorrow's Shapeless Rhyme” by Mute. 

The legacy of Dark. Descent. is appropriately reflected in various aspects of this collection, the sheer number of quality tunes, past and present, speaks for itself. And the 15 CD tracks really hit the mark: Artists who have been growing and developing under the label’s guise, also featuring the mates of Traumatic, all delivering a sound which is simply state of the art in 2018. Possibly this is too demanding for the main stage, too rhythmic for the doomheads, too heavy for techno – but just right for those in the know. Impossible to remain untouched by the bouncing greatness of Defiler or Stan Grewzell, the gritty darkness of Embrionyc or Cyberstruct, the melodic grandeur of Shatterling, the immediate club appeal of Mindwalker or Cubic Nomad. One simply can’t point out single tracks – as the quality level never drops, but then - Dustrializer’s “I am” is nothing less than an anthem, a bold declaration of unity for the Dark. Descent. massive, resolving all doubts: We are family!

Can you think of better refreshment during the heat of summer than a blitz of darkness? Instalment four of the Rōnin series promises to deliver, again. EMBRIONYC’s “Blitzlichtgewitter” has been a cherished staple of The Relic’s DJ sets for years, but unbelievably this is the first time this extended monster of a hit is being released. STRANGE ARRIVAL has infused a 2018 midtempo industrial track by DUSTRIALIZER with some crossbreed steroids, and THE RELIC maintains the high-octane dynamics. It’s up to HYPOXIC to grant some diversion with his piece of moody, (head)banging doom’n’distortion. 
Yes people, you need to cherish the entire range of uniqueness again, and on top of it all you will be revealed some secret knowledge about clipping.
