Boxes - Beat Tape

A track made using only samples (from the "Music for Ghosts" Sample Challenge by Taetro) and editing. I started making my track using Koala Sampler on my iPad mini to edit the samples & make sequences, utilizing Koala's probability & 'export sequence to sample' features among others.

Then I moved the project to Ableton, loading all my edited samples to a drum rack. I added the piano samples to the track at this point, as well as some plugins. Air Flexbeat & Arturia Filter Ms-20 are doing the most work in the project.

Lastly, I took those project stems into the MPC 2.0 software and did a final bit of EQ and sidechaining that i felt was missing.

5 of 6 provided samples used: Drifting Guitar, Fading Piano, Flowing Chords & Spirit Transmission, using Koala Sampler to chop & pitch samples as well as playing some chromatically. No other sound sources used aside from a 6am field recording of a walk outside from my apartment to the garage to start an early delivery shift (recorded in the SW Denver suburbs)
