Duty Now's most pop moment: verses, choruses, riffs, one time signature, no convoluted intros or outros. From memory we got a bit bored of it, but it was always in the set. One of the first finished songs.

Instrumental. A live reviewer once called this 'Chip Shop', which is a great name for a song.

Cheap Shot

Track from 2005 demo that disappeared from the CDs we did, and also from a lot of setlists. Probably felt like too many slow songs in most sets with this one included, but quite like this recording now.

This Machine

Traditional set-opener. Big atmospheric build-up, dramatic string-synth melodramatic chorus, probably the band's best guitar riff sandwiched in between.

I'm Not Coming In Today

Crowd-pleasing instrumental set to a drum sample. Sometimes sounded brilliant. Towards the end of the band's life someone who ran a wrestling league tried to get us to record a special version to use as their theme music. No idea what happened there.

Either the best or the worst thing we did, depending on your opinion. Sometimes both at the same time. 

The Beginning Of The End

A perfectly nice keyboard song with a wistful, pleasant little intro we tagged on that turns into a howling mess of ebow and reverb in the most pleasing manner. An early song we could never quite shake out of the set. Best enjoyed in a smoky room.

There Is Still Time

Recorded for some reason lost to the mists of time at Huddersfield University. A later song that was absolutely brilliant in at least one of our head's, but got a bit confused on the way out.  Not sure anyone has ever included a lyric about the Pantone code of their soul before though.

We have all we need: neon lights and sporadic beats.



All We Need

Manchester 4 piece who played every basement in town, 2003-2007. Often the sound of 4 people playing different versions of the same song, at the same time. 

No shared influences beyond a distaste for the mundane. We loved this band, but it could never last.

Tracks uploaded and shared in a fit of nostalgia. Some sound better than we remember, some will never match the song any of us had in our heads.
