"This is the cover of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists, On The Beach by Neil Young. When i first heard that song, i felt like i could have or should have written it. The lyrics are so dark and beautiful, they relate to the slightly autistic part that a lot of artists are hiding and the artist condition in general. But I'm no Neil Young when it comes to song-writing, so instead of trying to write something as good, I decided to make a cover, twist that blues tune and turn it into something completely different and (much to my surprise) even darker, to the point where most people don't even recognize the original song."

Σtella is already known as the most characteristic female voice in the Greek electro-pop scene. After many collaborations and guest appearances (My Wet Calvin, Sillyboy, Coti K., Expert Medicine, Nteibint, Sad Disco) and two side projects (Fever Kids, Chest) it's time for her debut self-titled album.

The world of "Σtella" unfolds in 10 tracks where love for the 80's is present, synths are bolstered by funky guitar and dynamic bass and disco beats and colorful pop textures embrace the unique vocals of Σtella. The album was recorded in 2014, Σtella has written music and lyrics and has played most of the instruments, while it was produced by Σtella and Nteibint. The tracks "Detox" and "Picking Words" are already favoured by radio producers and the album is expected to be among the best pop albums of the year.

Η Σtella είναι ήδη γνωστή ως η πιο χαρακτηριστική γυναικεία φωνή στην ελληνική electro-pop σκηνή. Μετά από πολλές συνεργασίες και συμμετοχές (My Wet Calvin, Sillyboy, Coti K., Expert Medicine, Nteibint, Sad Disco) και δύο side projects (Fever Kids, Chest) ήρθε η ώρα για το ντεμπούτο album της με τίτλο το όνομά της.

Ο κόσμος του “Σtella” ξετυλίγεται σε 10 κομμάτια όπου η αγάπη για τα 80’s είναι εμφανής, τα συνθεσάιζερ ενισχύονται από τους ήχους funky κιθάρας και δυναμικού μπάσου, τα disco beats και οι πολύχρωμες ποπ υφές αγκαλιάζουν τα μοναδικά φωνητικά της Στέλλας. Το album ηχογραφήθηκε το 2014 και η ίδια έχει γράψει τη μουσική και τους στίχους και έχει παίξει τα περισσότερα όργανα, ενώ την παραγωγή υπογράφουν η Σtella και ο Nteibint. Τα κομμάτια “Detox” και “Picking Words” έχουν ήδη αγαπηθεί από το ραδιόφωνο και το album αναμένεται να είναι ανάμεσα στους καλύτερους ποπ δίσκους της χρονιάς.

London-based vocalist Py releases her long-awaited next EP ‘Ghostdance’ on 30th March via her brand-new label, Tilehouse.

Recorded at Red Bull studios in Paris, ‘Ghostdance’ is a game-changer for Py; an EP focused solely on a voice that finally trusts what it has to say. Despite collaborating with a who’s who of contemporary producers in a short but successful career, it’s Py’s own perfectly crafted sound that remains at the fore of a mature and accomplished four-track EP.

Title-track ‘Ghostdance’ is rich with sultry sass, a throwback sound that transports you into sweaty, dance-fuelled times gone by, not sounding out of place blasting from the depths of Radio 1, whilst ‘Sealion’ inspires with its fluttering and raw multifaceted class.

‘Fresh Sheets’ flips proceedings into dark, smokey territory, packing one almighty emotional punch before ‘Glummywood’ rounds off the EP with a nod to old-school Py; twisted, and glitchy but pieced expertly together with the most distinctive of honey-coated tones.

A long-time collaborator of Ross Tones (Throwing Snow) who also produced the EP, Py recently featured on his critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Mosaic’ released via Houndstooth, as well as pairing up with US duo Odesza on recent single ‘Echoes’. Previously supported by Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe at Radio 1 who made recent single ‘Polyethers’ his prestigious ‘Next Hype’, Py is here to stay: and it’ll be all on her own terms.

People have been reinventing Bach for nearly 300 years but there has never been anything quite likePatrick Higgins’ Bachanalia. Equal parts gorgeous and severe, these highly original arrangements of JS Bach prove the endless possibilities contained within the master’s pen. Bachanalia emerges from a dynamic relationship among three main elements: Higgins’ own virtuosic classical guitar playing, stereo electronic processing, and the recording spaces themselves. Truly site-specific, it makes unique use of the extreme and special acoustics of St. Cecilia’s Church in Brooklyn and Future-Past Studios, an upstate New York recording complex housed in a historic Lutheran church. While Bach’s compositions will be familiar to almost everyone, Higgins gives us a mesmerizing glimpse into the future.

Described by The New Yorker as one of the “prime movers of the local avant-garde,” and an “exacting avant-classical guitarist” by Time Out NY, Patrick Higgins is a New York-based composer/performer of experimental music. Higgins has composed works for some of the nation’s leading ensembles, from chamber orchestra works, percussion cycles, and string quartets to smaller ensembles and soloists. He has scored music for television, museum exhibitions, and films both short-form and feature-length. Higgins plays guitar and composes in Zs, hailed by The New York Times as “one of the strongest avant-garde bands in New York.” As a producer and studio owner at Future-Past, Higgins has helped produce records for The National, Josephine Foster, John Zorn and Dither Quartet, Mantra Percussion, Zs, Eric Wubbels and Josh Modney, Ensemble Contemporaneous, Vicky Chow, and many more.

For Bachanalia, Higgins and co-engineer Ben Greenberg worked with a collection of rare vintage Neumann, RCA, and Sennheiser microphones to carefully capture a spatialized natural room reverb. This provided a palate to warp, manipulate, and re-process the sound in precise counterpoint to Bach’s compositions. The end result weaves together live performance and studio composition. The musical arc reaches from light to dark, both in the emotional timbre of the compositions and in the density of the electronic elements. In the final three tracks (“Minuet,” “Chaconne,” “Aria da Capo”), both the experimentation and emotional intensity are pushed to new heights. This is highlighted in the “Chaconne,” Bach’s infamous death mass written after the passing of his first wife, presented here as a 14 minute epic recorded in two continuous takes. While any piece on Bachanalia can stand alone, the album articulates Patrick Higgins’ singular narrative vision from start to finish.

Bára Ungerová and Jan Kratochvíl - have carved out a niche with their rich, complex musical landscape. Established in 2006, the Czech project have toured the world and received numerous awards for their idiosyncratic “pop for non-existing radios” or “folklore of non-existing nations”. With three acclaimed albums under their belt, an award for best soundtrack, and a growing global fanbase, DVA are one of the most successful Czech bands to emerge in the last decade.

Operating in their own microcosm, DVA have stood out with an idiosyncratic sonic lexicon – “pop for non-existing radios” or “folklore of non-existing nations”, as they say. The duo – it takes two “dva” in Czech, to tango - Bára Ungerová and Jan Kratochvíl, have carved out a niche with their rich musical landscape. Established in 2006, the Czech project have toured the world, playing at esteemed festivals including SXSW, Eurosonic, Fusion, Incubate or OFF charming their growing global fanbase with smart sophisticated pop. In 2012, DVA toured the US twice and played more than 80 concerts in 10 countries. DVA's soundtrack for the computer game Botanicula scooped the main prize at Independent Games Festival awards in San Francisco last year, and was also nominated for the UK Sound & Music Awards. 

DVA's much-acclaimed debut album Fonók was released in 2008 which was followed by Hu in 2010, and an eponymous soundtrack for the aforementioned video game in 2013 with a new record in the works. Their lyrics, written in an imaginary language, remain abstruse, yet universally comprehensible, while the music is similarly peculiarly universal – an aural collage of “pop, kitchen beatbox, tango, cabaret, circus, radio noise”, bearing their unmistakable stamp - quirky, but accessible. Championed by critics - from the BBC to national and specialist music press and beyond - and fans alike, DVA are one of the most successful Czech bands to emerge in the last decade. Aside from music, they are also active in theatre whose features they have transferred into the music as well. It is not surprising then that the project's seeds were sewn during the recording of the science fiction radio play by I. Asimov – Victory Unintentional. DVA are a living and breathing aural organism, its own thing.
