Everything is smoother in September

The A side, "Weightless", starts off with a catchy piano loop. It is seamlessy woven together by mellow strings and rolling drums, generating a lush soundscape for the vocals to drop in. The track really takes off after the crunchy bassline sets the tempo, with precisely positioned snippets of effects and melodic elements adding an extra layer of flavour to the track. It rolls effortlessly into the breakdown, where the stripped down technique draws out all the components, showing how well the formula works. This one does not let you go until the end.

Once again Impish and Vasilisa return to Occulti with some new stuff to show, and this time its a 6 track album "Underwater", which brought  together the material written in the course of 2008 to 2013.
The mini album is dramatically simple in its concept, but deeply soaked with rainy vibes and loaded with powerful bass lines that have proven themselves worthy over the years on Moscow's underground dance floors. The two dark dance floor shakers Keep Quiet and Tunnel have been chosen for the 12inch vinyl. The CD topped off with beautiful photograph by Ilya Kisaradov is released alongside with the vinyl. It contains the oldest and the most stormy of the tracks Don't Let Me Down, the heartfelt Why, Lonely Street and Haze, which has been released on vinyl in the early 2014 at the fellow label Audio Plants and had already make some noise on the dance floors.

Once in a while a great talent comes out of nowhere. Estonia's Definate is that kind of a talent. His ability to combine detailed atmospheric textures with moving basslines can be compared to some of the coolest producers within the drum & bass genre. 

His beats are raw and with that kind of analogue quality, the bassline melodies are relentless, and pads sound oh so lush. Down & Under represents one of his very first releases and it's definitely one not to miss. More than a year of hard work is finally paying off in the form of this coherent EP that won't leave many DJ bags for months to come.
