The Codex: Court Vision

It's a special song, almost like a lullaby but also with a hip-hop spin. I made it the last track to tie in to the meaning of the album. I wrote this song after that terrible winter storm in early 2021. After it happened, Spring was starting to bloom and I was thankful to see how beautiful everything looked. I started to ponder about the meaning of what this life all means. On the hip-hop spin, I tell some of my testimony about the things I've come out of in my past.

WHAT'S THE MEANING

These are my thoughts as an adolescent and the immature things that governed my decisions. Always knowing who I was and my calling, but just didn't have any idea how to get there. One thing is for certain if you want something bad enough you just have to go get it. Just simply go grind, and go get it.

I call myself, "the funk" a lot in my music, because I will sprinkle the track with a lot of flavor. So this is a song about me bringing y'all that flavor. It's a neo-soul track and very funky, heavy on the vocals, kinda has an old-school take on the beat.

SOO MUCH FLAVA

Evolution of Hip-Hop is the ultimate experimental hip-hop song, it's me realizing who I am in hip-hop culture. I feel that hip-hop hasn't been experienced in the way that I bring it, it's a classic vibe and shows how hip-hop is in need of something deeper and more meaningful than the regular messages we hear in the culture today. It's an experimental soundtrack, has vocal elements, it gives a classic hip-hop listener experience.

EVOLUTION OF HIP HOP

No Structure is a track that's kinda like analyzing what's happening in the world, from politics, to social norms, it's me expressing my concern and what we should do about it. The track is laid-back. low-tempo, melodic.

NO STRUCTURE

This song has had so many re-written versions, I first wrote it in a dark place in a past relationship, so it went through different spells. It became an ode to my confidence as a man that I'm enough. So it's a self assuring song for the people, that I am Enough with God in my life.

ENOUGH

Destined for Greatness is filled with metaphors
that true sports fans will appreciate. The symbolism
references the bigger picture in life, while still
giving them that down south Hip-Hop energy
they'll love. The horn makes this track a crossover
between jazz & hip-hop and is played by one of
London's favorite horn players, Vicky Flint.

Artificial Climbing is actually rock climbing, when you're climbing you're reaching for the top. If you look down, you'll be afraid and probably stop. "You have to sacrifice for what you want or what you want becomes sacrificed."

This song is about staying confident in your purpose and not allowing anyone or anything steal your shine, or dim your light. The song features my soul brother Master Pé as the producer and I finished it up with my soulful skillset. This will be featured on The Codex Volume III

Just a fun upbeat song about how I have the coldest step back in the game. Stepback Jumper; Stepping back to the most important things in life.
