For this @DarkScienceElectro premiere, we check out a track from @appliedresearch compilation called 'What We Do Is Secret'. 

This compilation has a serious lineup of sleeper hits ranging from cosmic melodic melancholic, extraterrestrial funk, to cavernous repetitions straight from the mothership… The sound is dark with chromed-out overtones, tailored to take the listener on nightly escapades in a dark neon-lit digital dystopia. Exactly one year after his 2020 release entitled Dunklewissenschaft, DVS NME returns with a collection of new tracks that were produced between late 2020 and early 2021. This 25-track album is another obvious thematic tribute, only this time he chose to pay homage to the writing of the socialist revolutionary Karl Marx. Every song title is a nod to the German philosopher's economic and political theory. Even the album cover borrows directly from Marx, re-adapting the original cover of the 1848 pamphlet entitled 'The Communist Manifesto'.

This album, as with the last, relies heavily on the sounds of classic Electro machines like Mono/Poly, MS-20, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106, SH-2, System 100, Juno 60, JX-3P, TB-303, Polysix, TR-606, OB-8, TR-808, ARP Odyssey, as well as some contemporary additions to his studio like Hydrasynth, System 8, Novation Peak, Minilogue, SE-02, and Microkorg.

DVS NME is the man behind the weekly radio show/daily blog called 'Dark Science Electro' and has been a dedicated contributor for the Electro community for the last 11 years. Over the past five years /DL/MS/ (@dl-ms) have been continually commuting through the electro singularity, constructing their unique brand of fragile bass music from extradimensional sound salvage, and spreading their electrifying frequency patterns via the pirate subspace channels of @frustratedfunk, @pomelorecords, @vigram and TRUST.

‘Calanhi’ is the Austrian production outfit‘s debut album – 12 tracks that combine the perpetually fresh aesthetics of Detroit-style electro with a relentless curiosity for rhythmic and harmonic experimentation. Seismic club thumpers like ’Invisible Bits’, ‘Mountains’, and ‘Trusted Funk’ alternate with moody ambient interludes, boldly constructed beat inventions, and blissfully melodic acid breaks. Two collaborations further switch up the flow: Nigerian artist @g-rizo (@hezekinapollutina, DeeJay Gigolo) drops her conspirational rhymes on ‘Divide & Conquer’, and Spanish singer @isiskuaygarond lends her vocal talents to ‘Accelerated Frequency’.

‘Invisible Bits’ will be released as a digital single on March 21. ‘Divide & Conquer’ will follow as a second single on April 11.

DVS NME - Pursuance

For this premiere we look again to Germany for a new release from Heliopause.

Originally consisting of @AUX88 and Dynamik Bass System, Heliopause has moved from a trio to become a solo project consisting of just Thomas Werner, who is the man behind DBS and Robotmachine Records.

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is the final track on the album entitled 'Quantum Mechanics'. This track (and all the tracks on this new album) are exactly what you expect from the man behind Dynamik Bass System. Up-beat 808 rhythms, excellent mastering, modestly used vocoding, funk-laced bass lines and well-thought out arrangements that keep the listener engaged.

Fast moving hi-hats, epic pads, driving bass lines, beautiful melodies, and syncopated arpeggios are all eagerly used on this track and throughout the record as well. This is the stand-out track on the album for me, however, this release is riddled with everything you love about this veteran producers approach to writing Electro music.
