 DVS NME is an Electro music producer/deejay and Post-Punk enthusiast living in Colorado. He runs a daily blog called 'Dark Science Electro' which features news, live sets, guest mixes, upcoming shows, and throwbacks, as well as a weekly podcast that publishes every Friday on Soundcloud.

He is also an accomplished and prolific Electro music producer. With production techniques ranging from software to hardware and everything in between, and spanning a multitude of genres, he has been producing music since 2000. He has collaborated with the likes of Franck Kartell, Das Muster, MetaComplex, Koova, Faceless Mind, Komarken Electronics, Deemphasis, and more. He is an artist representing Transient Force, Solar One Music, Blind Allies, Pulse Drift Recordings, Ukonx Recordings, Mosaique Records, Fanzine, Tiger Weeds, and more.

DVS NME - Profit Pursuit

PTHGN is an artist who found his calling in music production while studying visual arts in Chicago. It was through attending local parties and club nights that he was first introduced to Chicago's House, Techno, and Footwork scenes, which would eventually become a major influence on his decision to pursue music. 
During his studies, PTHGN's artistic practice consisted of virtual, sonic, and light-based installations, as well as instrument design using interactive technologies. His work emphasized the relationship between sight and sound, ultimately leading him to focus on creating music in favor of visual art. 
Although his sound has primarily focused on electro, he draws influence from a wide range of genres, including techno, idm, industrial, jungle, garage, jazz, dub, hip-hop, and grime. 
2022 saw PTHGN’s first official releases, contributing tracks for V/A compilations on labels such as Crazed Behaviour, International Chrome, and Ovelha Trax. He has already received recognition for his work, having been featured on BBC 6 Music Radio’s “The People’s Party with Afrodeutsche” in early 2022. 
His dedication to pushing the boundaries of sound design and composition is evident in his recent pivot to a hardware and modular synth-based approach to production and performance. His tracks are crafted with the dance floor in mind, but never at the expense of musicality and experimentation. With his impressive artistic background, dedication to innovation, and unique sound, PTHGN is quickly establishing himself as an artist to watch out for. 

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- DJ Stingray, London Modular Alliance, Morphology, really there’s too many to name.  

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I have a few projects coming up soon. I’ve been working on separate projects with Alex Jann and Francois Dillinger, as well as an upcoming remix and original track for Ovelha Trax.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- This is tough because there’s so much good music coming out right now. As far as labels I always love what comes out on Mechatronica, Cultivated Electronics, Zement, and Science Cult. For artists a few names I have to mention are Viikatory, Cyphon, Obzerv, The Droid, and Ekata as I’ve been keeping up with them for a few years and they’re always working on something top notch. 

What inspires you now to create music?

- A chance to step outside of everything going on in the world.  

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- For my setup the past few years I’ve been diving deep into eurorack as  well as hardware synths and drum machines. If I had to pick a few pieces I’d never sell they’d probably be anything by Mutable Instruments, my Digitakt from Elektron, and probably my Make Noise effects modules. Having worked with software music production for many years beforehand I can honestly say I haven’t quite found anything to emulate pieces like that in the box.
