Cycles Podcast #033 - YAZMIN (techno, groove, breakbeat)

Allow me to introduce Creznight ‘’Crash the Night’’, the dynamic DJ and producer. hailing from Utrecht, Netherlands. His musical voyage is a thrilling exploration of groovy Detroit-inspired Techno straight from the '90s. Envision vibrant basslines, pulsating 909 kicks, and hypnotic percussion layers—all designed to immerse you in
a meditative Groove!

Creznight finds inspiration in maestros like Sterac, Ben Sims, Umek, and the early Drumcode releases. Currently, he's diligently sculpting fresh productions in the studio, with an eagerly anticipated EP slated for release in 2024. His journey into the world of groovy music ignited in Ireland, where he took his initial steps as a DJ.

Born into a world filled with diverse musical genres, ranging from soul to classical and electronic, Creznight began his piano lessons in 2008. By 2014, he was already making waves as both a DJ and a music composer. In 2017, he embarked on the Audio Engineering & Production course, a pivotal move that led to the unveiling of his
debut Creznight track on Creations Black in 2020—a testament to his enduring passion for music.

Beyond his solo endeavors, Creznight collaborates harmoniously with his talented sister, a soulful singer whose voice seamlessly intertwines with his productions, reminiscent of the musical concept embodied by Floorplan. Exploring the realms of Chicago House under the pseudonym Terry Allen, this is a heartfelt homage to his
soulful upbringing.

Creznight's journey has taken him to share stages with distinguished DJs such as Invite, Comrade Winston, and Mirella Kroes. His performances have graced venues spanning from Radion and ADE to TivoliVredenburg, Bibelot, Vault Sessions and numerous festivals and raves. But Creznight's story isn't just about the gigs; it's about being part of a collective rhythm. He's the proud founder of Utrecht's DJ collective "Oefenmeesters," known for their numerous Soundcloud releases and vibrant club gatherings. If your heart beats
to the rhythm of the groove and you seek to connect with kindred music enthusiasts or potential collaborators, Creznight stands ready to harmonize.

For this mix I decided to choose electro!

Electro is one of the first styles of music I immediately loved. When I took my first steps as a dj there was a huge amount of “new” music to choose from: drum ‘n bass, techno, breakbeats, house, EDM and electro, to name a few. Electro really caught my attention because of the more obscure character and DIY mentality in that genre. It wasn’t trying to create something easy on the ears, with mass appeal or high-end productions. It was all about the atmosphere, the ideas. Basically it celebrated machines and electronic instruments.

Besides that electro is, technically speaking, one of the main reasons that many other electronic (dance-) music genres that we now know even exist in the first place. So you could almost say: without artists like Kraftwerk there probably wouldn’t be any techno as we know it nowadays. And even though it gets very little attention in the current music business, it is still alive.

With this mix I’m trying to open up that obscure electro world a bit more. And not just in its purest form. There are influences from techno, breaks, dubstep and IDM in these tracks. But they are still electro!

Hopefully this will inspire some of you to dig a bit deeper than the more “mainstream” sounds and maybe  open a few doors for music lovers that don’t know that much about this genre

My mix contains old and new tracks. But I tried to focus specifically on some artists that also inspired me as a dj/producer. They had a substantial impact on my own taste in music. And to top it off, I added a brand new electro track of my own.

In deze mix heb ik gekozen voor electro tracks.

Electro is een van mijn eerste muzikale liefdes. Toen ik net begon met dj-en was er een overvloed aan 

“nieuwe” muziekstromingen: drum ’n bass, techno, breakbeats, house, EDM en electro, om er een paar te noemen. Electro interesseerde me vooral vanwege het wat meer obscure karakter en de doe-het-zelf mentaliteit. Het streefde niet naar toegankelijke sound, massa publiek of gelikte produkties. Het ging om 
de sfeer, het idee, een soort ode aan machines en electronische instrumenten. Daarnaast is electro, technisch gezien, een van de hoofdoorzaken van het bestaan van zoveel andere muziekstijlen die we nu kennen. Kort door de bocht: zonder Kraftwerk en consorten was de techno zoals we die nu kennen er niet geweest.
En hoewel het veel te weinig aandacht krijgt, leeft die stroming nog steeds. 

Met deze mix wil ik vooral een kijkje geven in het wereldje van de electro. En wel in de breedste zin van het woord. Er zitten invloeden tussen van techno, breaks, dubstep en IDM. Maar in essentie is het allemaal electro! Hopelijkinspireert dit om verder te gaan kijken dan de meer “mainstream” sounds en opent het wat deuren voor liefhebbers die niet zo thuis zijn in deze muziek.

Mijn mix bevat oude en nieuwe tracks, waarbij ik bewust heb gekozen voor artiesten die mij als dj en producer ook hebben geinspireerd. En een flinke impact op mijn muzikale smaak hebben gehad. Dat alles aangevuld met een eigen gloednieuwe electro track om het plaatje compleet te maken.

Hopelijk valt het in de smaak!

 Currently living in Utrecht (NL) DvX is a techno DJ/Producer from Germany with belgian roots

Born and raised in the borderlands of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands DvX began Djing in 2008 as „Chris Devox“ in the German House Scene.His career began with a residency at the well known „Housegeflüster“ Party's in Aachen.

He then soon became resident at “Seltsames Verhalten”, the biggest outdoor festival in the area- where he had the opportunity to play beside some of the most internationally-renowned DJs in the House and Techno Scene.

Looking for a purer & harder sound, he started playing in the tri-country area’s underground rave scene as DvX, where he could redefine his sound and focus on his techno roots.
