All the artists involved in this compilation had complete creative control of their work and all we asked was that they make something dancefloor accessible for 4NPLCY. Each of these artists brings a strong voice and intensely creative ethic to this release. We are proud to bring together so many artists, with such a diverse range of backgrounds and musical influences.

One of Fanon Flowers best works finally reissued on Mojuba sub label a.r.t.less! As a very eloquent discogs user once said: “Absolutely essential hard, minimal, detroit-style techno. One of the finest examples of the mid-late 90's minimal sound. Aggressive, spare, funky...much like Robert Hood's seminal masterpiece, Minimal Nation LP. Unlike much of the mindless, meathead bangers of hard techno, this single is tastefully understated. Taking cues from early g-man (and perhaps less directly from Basic Channel) this record doesn't oversaturate with a barrage of hard beats...it holds back and leaves the listener hypnotized and wanting more. This is hard techno that works. It jacks; it throbs; it fills the dance floor. It's smarter than the rest, and it isn't afraid to show its detroit roots. It's everything that the idiom of hard techno should be and rarely was able to achieve. This record is the undelivered promise of the hard, detroit sound and one of the best examples of the Robert Hood/Jeff Mills legacy.“ There's nothing more to add ;)

The new instalment on Indigo æra features three originals by Indigo's founders Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff. Since the label's start they have been on a mission for soul containing techno. This release, a little bit more tough styled compared to their previous releases, still perfectly maintains the detroit-esque melodic elements. Cosmic Language EP is about the visualization of soundwaves into geometric forms....

Opener 'Ante 303' is a loose limbed bit of techno with straight kicks, spacious percussion and an always essential baseline that sprays about freely. Heady but physical, it’s a seductively supple bit of techno. 'Trica' has more classically driven chords and has real sense of crescendo buried in the bass. Last but not least, 'Stellar Cult' makes effective use of the 909 toms, with alien and sci fi sonic details evolving into a space journey with an soulfull ending of strings and stars.

With Dysnomia, the Brooklyn-based group Dawn of Midi made up of double bass player Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani and drummer Qasim Naqvi abandon improvisation in favour of composition, utilising sophisticated rhythmic structures from North and West African folk traditions to weave a sonic tapestry of trance-inducing grooves. From close up one may see only dots, but when stepping back an undulating image reveals itself. “We didn’t want to create anything cerebral,” says Belyamani, “we wanted something visceral, something that would awaken our instinctive dance impulses.” 

“We wanted to make a record that sounded both musically futuristic and sonically vintage,” explains Israni, “and since the album never saw a proper international release, it is very exciting to see what might happen when more people are exposed to it. And to be aligned with Erased Tapes, whose enthusiasm for the music they release has done a lot for exposing unique instrumental and electronic music, makes it that much more interesting.”

Phonica Premiere: Ellen Allien - Trigger [NONPLUS]

Her first release outside of her own Bpitch Control imprint in well over 10 years, German techno stalwart Ellen Allien's abrasive techno slammer 'Take A Stand' on Nonplus Records is a nebulous yet poignant political call to action for the wider dance music community. 

Following the release of the single back in September of this year, Bpitch Berlin has tapped four of dance music's finest producers to deliver a remix package of this robust rave tune. First up on the four-track 'Take A Stand' Remix EP is the young Berghain resident, Kobosil. Feeding off rough and dark dancefloor energy, Kobosil's brutal rework of the track takes Ellen Allien's shouted slogan and turns it into "a disembodied curse that haunts this lysergic peak time banger."
