Trippy, enigmatic and tribal. These were the adjectives we were thinking of when we encountered the musical output of Saint-Petersburg based producer and DJ Anastasia Zems(@anastasiazems)last year. And now we are excited to present her contribution to Dykuma mix series. A compelling selection of swampy psychedelic grooves progressing into dance floor heaters sprinkled with exotic flavour.

#003 Camel Ride with Anastasia Zems

Our next guest on the series is German producer @djblech a.k.a David Cutura. Being a passionate vinyl collector and active part of the Stuttgart nightlife scene, this year David launched Laster Records (@laster666), his label, dedicated to the promotion of slow trance music and artists who push this sound into the world. Across his mix, David pools his recent influences and ventures from obscure ambient and murky slow tempo chuggers to pulsating trance jams. Sit back, expect the unexpected turns and enjoy the journey!

#004 Camel Ride with DJ Blech

The fifth Camel Ride delivery is brought by Justas Jelisejevas (@justas_j), a Vilnius-based producer, music digger and journalist. His passion for music and genre-bending varieties is reflected in the immaculately crafted selections, encompassing imaginative soundscapes, atmospheric emotions and subtly hypnotic dancefloor vibrations.

Safe to say, over the last years the beguiling selections of Justas in various venues and festivals have left no one indifferent. Moreover, he co-curated Calypso Magazine, an online journal with a number of interviews with prominent artists in his books. Becoming deeply ingrained in the Lithuanian scene, recently he started to produce his own sounds. This year saw the release of his debut EP titled Animaux, a six-track release that explores and interprets wild animals through the means of electronic music. Justas also co-runs a monthly radio show “Puppystyle” (@puppystylelove) at the newly emerged hub Radio Vilnius. Aside from music activities, Justas draws animal illustrations with oil pastels or ink.

#005 Camel Ride with Jelisejev

For our sixth edition of Camel Ride, we welcome onboard @marijusklimaitis, a selector who doesn’t need long introductions. A part of the legendary Smala trio, Marijus has been one of the key figures who laid the foundations for the landscape of the current Lithuanian electronic music scene. Now he curates his monthly radio show “Per Amžius Ambient“ at Radio Vilnius, uncovering the sonic gems of the past and presenting relevant digs of the present.

#006 Camel Ride with Marijus Klimaitis

Dykuma kicks off its mix series with Vilnius-based producer @aurummiles a.k.a Aurimas Milesinas who will headline the fifth Dykuma event at @barasperonas next Friday.

Having been inspired by classic rock and shoegazing brit music in the childhood, Aurimas later discovered the world of electronic sounds by touching JUNO-6 for the first time, and it made a substantial effect in his future life. After a lot of years practising playing the guitar, keyboards, drums and everything that make sounds, he finally started producing electronic music that combines rock, psychodelic and electronic sounds. 

In recent years, Aurimas has released dazzling EPs at @esthetique-lab, @blindetonation and @coquelicot-records. In addition to that, his tracks were remixed by such prominent artists like Thomass Jackson, Il Est Vilaine, Pardon Moi and more. Ahead of next Friday's Dykuma, we sat down for a talk about his mix, plans for the future and inspirations.

1. Aurimas, thank you for taking the time to record this mix. What is the idea behind your mix?

It's my pleasure! This mix depicts my mood of the day I recorded it. It is a composition of 13 great tracks that will lead you through different emotions in one hour. This set is like Rose of Jericho – life, death, rebirth.

2. You were playing and producing under the moniker Aurum Miles. Where this comes from?

In Latin, it means Golden Solder. Well, in life you must fight your way through various shit, but in this fight, you must be shiny and visible. And we all know that gold is glowing even in mud. So here we have - Aurum Miles.

3. If you have to describe your production and the music you play by giving it a film title, what film it would be?

Definitely "Only Lovers Left Alive".

4. What have you been up to recently in the studio? 

I‘m finishing my next EP and working with some remixes and preparing a live performance. Also, I‘ve painted the studio walls with BASTARD-AMBER colour. I change wall colours every two/three weeks.

5. What are your plans and aims you've set for yourself in 2020? Any gigs, releases, new forms of music?

First and most important aim - not to die this year! Next goal is the same every year - improve music production. Meet new people as well, quit smoking (or maybe not). Also prepare for Eurotrip with live performance, later this year.

6. Where does your inspiration for music production comes from? 

Inspiration comes from the environment. Strangers, books, movies, weather, mood...everything and anything can inspire me. But mostly it is music. I listen to a lot of various music. Love the soundtracks of video games and movies.

7. Say, you are dropped in a desert for one week with a tent and a sleeping bag. What are the three essential things you would take with you?

A bottle of whiskey, Colt and a bullet. I'm in love with Russian roulette.

Tęsiame Dykumos svečių mixų seriją, prie kurios šį kartą jungiasi talentinga didžėja @gemayelsandra. Sandra atkreipė mūsų dėmesį dar karantino laikotarpiu, kai grojo @lizdasclub tiesioginėje transliacijoje. Vėliau, kelis kartus paklausę jos gyvai prie Perono bėgių, nelikome abejingi jos drąsiam braižui ir skoningai selekcijai bei pakvietėme ją ant dykuminių kilimų.

Muzikos observatoriją baigusi Sandra pastaraisiais metais pasinėrė į elektroninę muziką, o prieš pusmetį jos talentas atsiskleidė Lizdo Akademijoje, kuri suteikė dar didesnę platformą kilti aukščiau. Jos grojamoje muzikoje tamsūs motyvai persipina su gilesne, bet intensyvia stilistika, o kokybiškas selekcijos nenuspėjamumas gali puikuotis jos vizitinėje kortelėje.

Prieš rugsėjo 11-osios Dykumos renginį @barasperonas trumpai šnektelėjome su Sandra apie jos santykį su muziką ir įkvėpimus.

1. Kaip apibūdintum šį įrašytą mixą?

Jame atsispindi mano ilgai kaupta muzika, kurią slėpdavau savo Bandcampo wishliste. Dabar atėjo puiki proga mėgiamus kūrinius išsiimti ir smagu tuo pasidalinti šiame mixe.

2. Muzika tau artima jau ilgą laiką, o neseniai užbaigei Juozo Grušo muzikos konservatoriją. Ką joje mokeisi?

Konservatorijoje mokiausi ketverius metus. Per šį laiką grojau pianinu ir trejus metus dainavau džiazą. Paskutiniais metais nusprendžiau mokytis muzikos produkcijos, taip ir pradėjau domėtis muzikos kūryba.

3. Palyginus, visai neseniai atsidūrei klubinėje scenoje. Kaip tas potraukis atsirado?

I klubinę sceną pasukau dar besimokydama konservatorijoje, baigdama 12 klasę. Mane visada žavėdavo didžėjai, grojimas atrodydavo lyg savas menas. Aš dažniausiai būdavau ta, kuri stovėdavo prie pulto klube ir stebėdavau, kaip jie sukioja mikšerį. Domėtis elektronine muzika pradėjau prieš kelis metus išgirdusi Lindstrom dj pasirodymą. Na, o Lizdo klube pirmą kartą apsilankiau po to, kai draugas parodė Pardon Moi gabalą („Power to the people”). Tuomet gyvenime atsirado daug naujų žmonių, vietų, nepažintų garsų, muzikos ir žanrų.

4. Tavo grojamoje muzikoje netrūksta tamsesnių elementų. Kaip pati galėtum ją apibūdinti?

Mano stilius yra tikrai klampus ir įvairus. Man nepatinka monotoniškumas, todėl stengiuosi kuo labiau paįvairinti savo selekciją, o tamsią melodiją pateikti šviesiai.

5. Kas tavo muzikiniuose planuose nusimato toliau?

Šiuo metu daug leidžiu laiko prie muzikos kūrybos, noriu tikėti, kad su laiku patobulėsiu ir kažkur su savo kūryba nukeliausiu. Grojimo atžvilgiu, turėjau planą A tapti Lizdo rezidente, jis, atrodo, pavyko, o dabar turiu tikslą sugroti ir Opium klube.

6. Kokie muzikiniai atradimai tave žavi pastaruoju metu?

Atradimų yra tikrai nemažai, bet labai pradėjau domėtis 80’s-90’s kūrinių editais. Vienas jų būtų HOTARU! Jo kūrinių jau esu ne vieną įsirašius ir nusipirkus.

6. Jeigu būtum išmesta į Dykuma tik su palapine ir miegmaišiu, kokius tris daiktus pasiimtum su savim?

Tai būtų kompiuteris su ausinėm, cigaretės ir maistas.
