Julianna 

  The third artist wave in Medellín set in motion the emergence of a versatile selector operating from the heart of the city to create and pursue artistic initiatives, parties, collectives, activism, but above all; curating scorching electro and techno.

Her work as a promoter of Move, one of the most pronounced collectives in Colombia, has allowed her to develop projects with artists such as DVS1 and DJ Stingray, while also allowing her to share a booth with other icons such as Robert Hood, Function, Solar and Sterac and to promote emerging talent from the region.

After studying filmmaking in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, she returned to her hometown in 2015. Continuing her quest for artistic purity; she founded Doce (alongside Merino and Jula), Medellín's only record store specialised in electronic music. Shortly after the collective Nótt was created, encouraging the participation and visualisation of women in the electronic scene of Latin America. Together with Marea and Andrea Arias, they developed this initiative into different projects and workshops, even joining forces with the New York collective Discwoman in several panels and parties.

2017 was definitely the beginning of a journey that consolidated Julianna as one of the most refreshing and disruptive DJs on the Latin circuit. Medellín's Mansion Club granted her a residence where she has developed her capacity of mutability, adapting to different moments of the night, always insisting on risky proposals that go from House to Techno, from Electro to EBM, also passing through breakbeat and Drum n' Bass, becoming a Latin American reference when it comes to versatility on the dance-floor.

She is currently working on the continuous construction of what she calls her 'sound path', making explorations with her voice, picking up field recordings and experimenting with synthesisers. A small sample of this was experienced in the exhibition The wonderful world of the machines, made in honour of the Colombian-Belgian electro-acoustic composer, Jacqueline Nova, in the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín.

As you can tell this woman is as versatile as is gets and her mindset in innovating the scene is what we strive for, so without further ado...

Recorded with vinyl on Technics 1210s, Urei 1620 mixer, Pioneer EFX1000 and a couple of turntable weights courtesy of the good people at Mastersounds UK.
I've decided to make the download available only as a WAV file - to maintain the highest quality audio. Don't ask me for an mp3!!

The first volume of this focused on Disco, and it had always been my intention to change it up for this edition. I've been in reflective mode this week, due to the passing of the legendary Frankie Knuckles, so it seemed timely to put out a mix - a tribute to the enduring legacy he helped birth. House.

Ryan Wild aka Jack Sparrow, a Deep Medi Musik signee and one half of dubstep extraordinaire duo Author, has granted the scene with his tenacity to build profoundly stunning electronic music. Wild has the tempo notched up for his In Pieces edit but remains true to Vaun and Jafu's approach in the sense of its lavish spatial touch. The atmospherics breeze over with a soft vibrancy, as the electronic guitar solo recording from the original plays over the initial main section charmingly. This is all resulting in a simply sumptuous mix which goes right up there with his top drawer remix work for Annie Drury and De Niro & Y.
