I  fell in love with music and dancing as a small child. I have vivid memories of being in my mom’s living room and putting the record of Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl and dancing around. After it was done I’d pick up the needle and start it repeatedly for hours and hours.   I started playing sax around 11 and joined the school jazz band around 13.  It didn’t take long to become a jazz head which would shape the outcome of my life.  After high school, I studied jazz performance at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo BC.  A friend took me to my first rave and my whole world changed.  It was here where I learned the magic of music and dance and how it could be transformative.  Someone in my friend group had turntables and we would spend hours upon hours mixing records.  Fast forward 20-plus years to when I attend my first ecstatic dance (Dance Temple).   It was here I found my home, a place where the dance was the primary focus of the event and someone would guide you on a meditative journey.  It wasn’t long after that I studied with the founder of Dance Temple, Naomi Jason on Salt Spring Island.  As a lover of jazz, and a saxophonist my sets tend to be on the jazzier of things and of course, as a saxophonist, I usually will play a little live sax.
