"When I picked records and songs for this mix I wanted to include a lot of tracks that are timeless and not trendy. Important tracks are in my arsenal of music. I don’t own CDJs so I did the mix on my 1200s. These songs kind of reflect the epitome of the sound in an underground party, from any era. I ended the mix with an old Get F*cked track, because I love that record, and it's perfect for closing out a party or a mix. Nathan Coles and I have been homies for over 20 years. I recorded the mix a few weeks before passed and it makes the mix mean something more to me than just doing a cool DJ mix. As a label owner, he’s the founder of three influential underground dance music imprints of his own: Alphahouse, Little Helpers, and his new Extrasketch project. His recent rework of Uone’s ‘Karnival Dreams’, showcased his engineering skills with a remix that was dancefloor-friendly and cerebral at the same time. Ahead of his Australian return to perform at the upcoming Chi Wow Wah Town Festival, the time felt right to get the scene veteran to host a Balance Selections mix.

The 52nd installment of our famed podcast series is coming from London based DJ, vocal techniques graduate, accomplished pianist and Crosstown Rebel signing Francesca Lombardo. Initially going under the alias Jackie Misfit whilst DJ’ing at underground clubs and parties throughout London as well as running her own imprint Echolette Records before re-earthing in her current carnation. The label boss has delivered a special exclusive mix for MEOKO to celebrate Kublicle’s seventh B-DAY. The mix plays out shifty transitions that take place throughout time and space and does not aim at phat hands-in-the-air moments but rather big silent freak outs that has you coming out of your closet dancing, possibly in sexy tights. There is an endless emphasis on deep vocals which does not come as a surprise as Lombardo is a classically trained vocalist herself who also loves to produce tracks and remixes which ooze voices and song elements. This might be one of the reasons why Francesca got picked up by Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels. The mix reflects all currents of the moment, with Francesca being the firm epicentre of the London party scene.

Biography:
Australian house music mainstay Dylan Griffin has started to make waves beyond the shores of his island home. With releases on USA’s highly respected Little Helpers as well as exclusive vinyl & digital releases with home imprints and dance music behemoth Poker Flat for their sister label Sublease Music. 

After 10 years of being a touring DJ in Australia and Asia Pacific, Dylan has shifted gears and now works closely with production partner Chad B and also solo for most of his studio output. In late 2018 their debut vinyl EP, that included an Alexkid remix, sold out in many of the major vinyl stores world wide after esteemed charting & press. That was the foundation that launched them into the trajectory they now find themselves in. With their last few releases having favourable press across publications Trommel, Meoko, 6AM, Magnetic Magazine & Constant Circles their music is now starting to reach a more global audience.  The production output is ongoing and Dylan’s original works have been supported by the like of Steve Bug, Archie Hamilton, Doubting thomas, Alexkid, Mihai Popiviciu & John Digweed to name just a few. 

Not one to follow trends Dylan has been fostering an infinite combination of the driving & groove based elements of the house, micro house and minimal techno worlds for over 10 years now. With not many Australian dance music institutions that Dylan hasn’t graced he has cemented an enduring reputation across dance floors and beaming peak time sets on some of the country’s most acclaimed events, festivals and clubs.
