A song for looking up to the sky through softly falling snow, optimistic snow-dances, late nights watching the snow-stake camera, gear drying by the fireplace, and for floating through the trees, weightless, in a cloud of white.

Growing up as a skier, I have always kept a close eye on the weather forecast during the winter months. Any and all snowfall has always been a magical thing to me - but the holy grail of storms has always been the 'upslope' storm. Upslope storms are a rare combination of factors: the center of a storm system sitting south of the mountains, counterclockwise rotation moving cold, wet air uphill along the mountain front, and the right temperatures and timing. These storms can stall for days and are known to produce intense snowfall near and east of the Continental Divide - exactly where I grew up skiing.  

This track is celebration of snow, storms, and the sport that gets me through the dark, cold winter months - but in particular, it's an ode to the Upslope.

Illenium ft. SKYLR - Without You (Durph Remix)

I am stoked to share my new track, "Columbines"!
The Rocky Mountain Columbine is the state flower in my home state, Colorado, and always has been one of my favorite things to stumble upon when I am exploring the high country. Recently, I was exploring a new area called Hayden Pass near my hometown with a good friend and we ended up in a field of the most majestic purple and yellow columbines that I had ever seen. I snapped a few photos and we moved on, happy to have seen such a beautiful sight. Unknown to us, later that same day, a lightning strike started a wildfire that now, two weeks later has grown to over 15000 acres and counting. I titled the song in memory of those columbines destroyed by the fire and also as a reminder that beauty can be found even in the toughest of circumstances.

Solitaire

Earth First!

Some islands aren't surrounded by water..

"Island in the Sky" is inspired by the jaw-dropping Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah. This "island" is actually a mesa that rises thousands of feet above the surrounding desert and the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers. 

This track is my first release in over two years. Previously, I had fallen into a cycle of feeling pressured to release each track I wrote as they were written, which led to me spending a lot more time on release prep than on developing my sound and pushing my own boundaries. I decided to take a break from releasing to get my creativity flowing again and encourage growth, both as an artist and as a person. This wasn't easy but I truly feel that it was worth it to take a step back and begin creating songs that pushed me creatively and technically again. 

That being said, I am so excited and proud to begin sharing all of the new tunes I have written during this break with you. "Island in the Sky" means a lot to me and went through some extensive revisions in an 18 month period from when I first sketched it to its release. I truly hope you enjoy, and that Island in the Sky takes you on an auditory journey to one of my favorite places on Earth. The track is my first featuring my own original album art and original samples. Happy listening!
