My Noise Studies series aims to explore the different sonic possibilities of 5 different types of noise: pink, blue, white, brown, and green, creating various ambient profiles that are reminiscent of the element they represent. 

Verdant explores the identity of green noise and of the realm of nature. It evokes the layered life of the forest—the slow stretch of branches toward the light, the bright flicker of birds between canopies, and the quiet communion of countless leaves in shared growth.

Verdant: Green Noise Studies

"It is a pitiful beast, feasting on lowly mortals, but in the end it does what it has to to survive. Mortals have tried to slay it but to no avail. So what do they do? They turn to the heavens and ask for help, and those calls are what bring me here to this realm. The Angelic Council had asked for me to stay inconspicuous, and because of that I have no wings. I pass through towns and hear all of these mortals talk about a beast they call Osiris: a being that blocks out the sun. The mortals I observed cared not of others but of themselves. They were quick to subjugate others to their will and if a threat arose, were quick to throw others at the fight. Yet there are a few I have found to be worthy, those that show complete selflessness and those few are what give me hope for mortals. Those humans that see similarities instead of differences will lead the humankind to greatness and will perhaps one day allow them to reach the heavens. My thoughts were cut off as a dark shadow fell over the village I was residing in. The humans started to panic and run in every direction, like fowl with their heads removed. Yet I stood and watched as the beast, a mere dragon, flew overhead, eclipsing the sun. I sighed but ran and leapt from building to building before finally launching myself towards the beast. As I felt the wind race across my face, I crafted my blade from the heavens. Formed from the purest of light, the long katana appeared in my hand and as it solidified, I released the seals that I had placed on my body, allowing for my full power to be utilized. The dragon saw my ascent and turned its fangs away from the humans towards me. The dragon flew towards me at a fast speed, but I simply flew right above its attack. As the dragon's body passed under me, I grabbed onto is scales with my claw-like gauntlet. The dragon, surprised to find itself with an unexpected, and unwanted visitor, started to thrash around violently, eventually caring me towards an open body of water. When we were far away from land, I let go of the dragon and leapt into the air. I turned to face the dragon, which had circled around to attack again, and lifted my katana in an effort to block any attack. I started to feel myself fall, but after only a few seconds, the descent ceased as I called forth my angelic wings. I was in my true form now: A heavenly valkyrie sent to slay a beast that humans could not handle. I drew my second blade, a broadsword and launched myself towards the oncoming beast. As we arrived closer and closer together, I lifted my blades, fitting them together and started to twirl through the air. My blades were no longer just swords, but a drill. As I collided with the beast, my drill pierced through its iron-like scales as if they were nothing more than tissue paper, and not a second later the beast was falling towards the water, drilled cleanly in two. I watched as its lifeless body smacked into the water, seeing only a tiny ripple in the vast expanse, hearing not a sound but the rolling of the waves and the calls of the avian creatures around me. The mortals were safe for now, their fear all but washed away, but if they had seen the view that I had just witnessed, they would realize how small their troubles truly are. I shake my head and think how mortals will never learn unless someone makes them, but that was not my task. For now I return to the heavens to watch and wait. Hoping a time will come when the mortals can finally figure out small truths about their world.﻿"
