Taste Rec. presents the ALTRO GIRO show on the London-based Bloop Radio. The monthly show’s aim is to shine a light on the futuristic underground scene from Milan and Italy and its main contributors: label heads, DJs, producers, all hosted by Taste Rec crew.

DJ Vietnam:

@dj_vietnam is co-owner and A&R of "Future Me" record label founded by Tha Hater Parisi in 2012, is a vinyl music selector and collector. Active as a producer, he appears in several releases of Future Me alongside relevant artists of the electro scene. Besides, in 2019 Dj Vietnam founded a collective called "Moken" together with AiC (Andromeda in Catene) where he currently performs as screamer and modular alchemist.

From obtuse angles to intense physicality, Peder Mannerfelt’s highly individual take on techno demands attention and consideration. While his many-sided body of work reaches back more than a decade, the Swedish producer’s current investigations in the field of experimental dance music are as prolific as they are unpredictable.

To date he has recorded an accomplished series of albums as Roll The Dice alongside Malcolm Pardon, explored a more direct strain of techno as The Subliminal Kid and also lent his production skills to Fever Ray’s acclaimed debut album and 2017’s Plunge.

It is under his own name that Mannerfelt’s sonic imprint can be most acutely felt at present. Alongside appearances on Hinge Finger, Numbers., Lazy Tapes and more, he established his own Peder Mannerfelt Produktions label to carry the bulk of his output, and that of kindred spirits like Klara Lewis, Machine Woman and Sissel Wincent. EPs such as Transmission From A Drainpipe and The 3D Printed Songbook and LPs Controlling Body and Daily Routine all feed into a distinctive abstraction of contemporary techno. It’s an approach at once engaging and challenging, rendered in even starker terms when Mannerfelt takes to the stage.

Employing subtle props and working with striking visual accompaniments, Peder Mannerfelt’s live shows bring the immediacy of his art front and centre in your cerebellum. It’s the perfect mutation of music still rooted in the kinetic energy of techno even as it seeks to break down the genre’s rigid, illusory formulae. By extension, as a DJ he spans the propulsive and the crooked, the classic and the unheard, the strange and the straight-up in a limber, instinctive fashion that complements (and is equally fueled by) his own productions.

Setting up in Berlin, she starting her collaboration with new artistic projects like @art-bei-ton and helped those events to feature more female artists.

As part of the LGBT+ community, Justine embraces the need of getting a more safe and diverse scene, involving more women and queer artists, as well as fighting against any form of discrimination.

Established herself in Europe, she played in prestigious venues, such as @rexclub in Paris, @khidi in Tbilisi, @Griessmühle, or @tresorberlin in Berlin, as well as some festivals, like Forte Festival in Portugal and Instytut Festival in Poland.

Electro is within the very DNA of dance and electronic music itself, it emerged from that which came before, the likes of Kraftwerk and 80's hip hop remain as influential on the genre of the present as they were at the start. 

Plant43 is a producer who has dedicated much of his life in the pursuit of understanding and progression within the genre. Her has released music on the likes of Ai Records, Shipwrec, Semantica, Central Processing Unit and Frustrated Funk amongst others. 

His sound has evolved over many years, moving with the times yet never far from the music he first fell in love with. 

During the late nineties Plant43, real name Emile Facey, promoted parties in London showcasing both the best in up and coming and stalwart electro, connecting producers and dj's alike. 

This mix comes alongside the release of a new record on his own Plant43 label, an imprint which he founded in 2020 to release his own material.

b2b sets are a delicate dance, especially so when meeting a teammate for the first time to collaborate on the spot. without prior discussion of direction — listening to each other’s selections, brief communication between blends and attention to the lovely folks on the dancefloor brought us all into sync over time. there’s a point in the set where it starts to sound less like two DJ’s and more like a cohesive, unified journey. there was also a moment where the dancefloor passed ‘the wave’ into the dj booth.   the spiral shows itself. 🌀😍

I can’t help but reflect back on this set like playing a pickleball match with a partner with whom I’m totally in sync: Mars & I vibed off each other’s tracks all night to build or shift the momentum however we saw fit. Hearing our tracks played slower and filthier through Globus’ delicious soundsystem was a bucket list-tier experience. Staying in the 100-130 BPM territory without the urge to go fast & hard too soon was a joy in that room.  This recording represents what a DJ team working in unison sounds like. We go back in time for 10 years, to a well known club in Berlin, where I celebrated the 10 Years Anniversary of my label CLR, and guess what - also played for 10 hours. Can´t believe that this is already 10 years ago really. Still kind of remember that night/day very well, especially the magic moments during the party and also especially at the end, when I played that DJ Hell track. With me on that night playing were Traversable Wormhole, @sanhajimastering Brian Sanhaji, @tommyfourseven_47 and @monoloc_official  until I finished off the night/day with my closing set. These are memories that are ingrained in my brain and I surely hope we can soon do this again. So this week it´s the fourth hour of this set. All the rest will be coming on a weekly basis, as you all know by now I guess.
