Great back to back to back DJ session on the @dubsmugglers soundsystem at this year's @dimensionsfestival in Croatia, alongside @floatingpoints, Tom Smith from the ace Cosmic Slop night in Leeds, ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/211633616863/ ) all held together by the mighty MC Kwasi. We all played vinyl, one or two tunes each for most of the session, with a slightly longer set each towards the end.

This month was our first 'Non-Mobile Disco'.. no mobiles on the dance floor. Really helped the atmosphere, and we will carry on with this policy from now on. Great night at Band on the Wall as always.. the 5 hour monthly DJ session with a proper across the board music policy & lovely crowd. Can't forget the amazing sound system, venue & staff too! This month I changed from my usual Grado DJ200 cartridges to Audio Technica AT440s, sounded a lot clearer. After about 7 years on the Grados, it might be time for a change!

Mr Scruff DJ set from Band on the Wall, Manchester, Sat 5 April 2014

The deep, immersive echo chamber that sits at the centre of DeepChord’s signature work with Echospace may appear inspired by the genre-defining work of first-wave dub-technoists that appeared on the Chain Reaction label in the mid to late 90s. But it’s also work that’s quintessentially building upon the Detroit scene where it was born, and that divine marriage of roots and vision makes the work of Rod Modell and Steve Hitchell at once so highly considered, so timeless, and so pertinent. The distinguishing feature of the duo’s sound is its ability and willingness to stand still; whereas much of dub techno attempts to propel the listener forward in either a lover’s rock groove or the cushioned reverb of a driving beat, DeepChord’s synth-driven analog warmth trades not only in static ambience but also propulsive design. Their set at Métropolis in 2011 was nothing short of enveloping and transcendent.

After beginning the unveiling process for our 16th birthday lineup at the beginning of the month with the 4 deck master Ben Sims, we've moved our way through the cast of artists who'll be bringing the magic to our 30 hour celebration with techno pioneer Marcel Dettmann completing the bill yesterday. In all we've lined up 14 guests to play alongside our residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis although there will be one more surprise to come at the party itself.

As a perfect demonstration of exactly the type of thing that occurs when Dettmann is at the controls, we recorded his set from his last EC1 appearance back in August which is the perfect bang with which to present our 16th Birthday Weekend lineup in full...

TRADE live is totally improvised, nothing is prepared beforehand. Every performance starts from scratch. We use modular synthesisers and hardware machines. 
We both really enjoyed the performance in Dublin on 2nd October and we're happy with where this Live Improvisation project is heading.
So we wanted to share the recording of this performance with you.
