To celebrate 20 years of building Labyrinths, we have decided to release one set from each of the last ten years. I've chosen ten timeless moments that both document the history of the event and provide a historical snapshot of underground electronic music over the past ten years.

We have chosen a broad range--from closing techno sets, to morning ambient sets, to experimental sets to close the night. Each set represents a different side of the event. Taken together, they present a portrait of a decade of music.

So this one was made public a while back via Fabric but seems to have disappeared from the internet completely now bar some kind soul upping it on youtube so let's make it right. upload a FLAC and put downloads on. I missed this Plex party as I was travelling and caught about 5 minutes of it on the phone in a pool in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This is a closing set 04:00-06:00 in the main room of Corsica Studios and it didn't disappoint.

All being well there will be a few more sets from this party released in the future, another decent Plex for sure line-up wise.

This was my second time playing at Wax Treatment in Berlin. The night is based around Dub Reggae in its many forms, so I had that in mind during my set and kept returning to Dub & Reggae throughout my set. 

The way music sounds on their Killasan soundsystem (which they install in the club especially for the night) is indescribably beautiful. Unfortunately, this recording is just a pale representation compared to the experience as it was on the night. 

As the soundsystem is set up facing the DJ, I was able to play without using monitor speakers, so I was able to experience the sound in the same way as the audience. It's wonderful to see every time at Wax Treatment that the crowd very naturally turns to face the soundsystem, rather than the DJ. Just the way I like it.

Some very dear friends were at the club that night, some of whom had never heard me DJ, or had ever experienced electronic dance music in that way before.

The way the music sounded on the Killasan soundsystem was a perfect introduction for them.

Zenaari's Podcast is back with a very special number, and this one’s from German juggernaut Efdemin. Phillip Sollmann’s nefarious allonym claims a well-deserved space on many a record cover and many a flyer. So large is his footprint that now, years since he first picked up a piece of hardware, or even started building his own, he’s largely liberated from the real world constraints many younger artists face. With nothing left to prove, and all this newfound freedom comes the space to truly probe the possibilities of sound in all its dimensions. This method is tried and tested (think 2019’s New Atlantis), but with each passing year the road travelled gets longer and no less full of surprises. It’s all down to his highly personal and off-centre approach - to be sure, he’s just as comfortable with feel-good techno (and his unconventional treatments make an appearance there too), but the real magic happens without preconceived ideas about genre or format, and the result is both organic and capable of opening doors no-one ever knew existed. Zenaari Mix 013 is a mind-maze in sound, from gentle piano and theremin allusions, to spoken narratives and dialogues that anticipate the world to come, and of course, there are Sollmann’s beloved bells. This is fresh ground trodden, Efdemin bravely charging into the unknown, a strange and spiritual palette of sounds from one of electronic music’s most iconoclastic figures.

I was worried I wouldn’t get this done due to gig commitments in South America, but Lost Beach Club in Montañita, Ecuador went out of their way to open up their back room (or “the cave” as they call it) so I could finish the mix. Huge thanks to them as well as all the people who were kind enough to share music with me for this one: Spencer (always), Cratebug, Armand, Ben UFO, Geroge Fitz, Mad Paddy who crashed in our villa in Ibiza, Palms Trax, Jonnie Wilkes and of course Martin Rubadub (also as always).

It's a kind of Tweak-A-Holic 4.5 meets Mastermix 2015 (as I never managed to get tweak #5 done this year, sorry) but it also features a load of the tracks that have been more prominent in my sets this year that a load of people have been asking about, as well as a couple of forthcoming, unreleased Numbers tunes.

The recording includes some surface noise, at few needle skips and more than a few dynamic discrepancies between transitions due to the fact I am attempting to mix 3 decades worth of music and technological mastering advances into 2 hours worth of music.
