LIVE at SYNTH-O-MATIC (07-10-2023) - EXTRACT

Dynamic Records was born as a container for Dynamic Stasis, music producer, drummer and live act strongly devoted to live performances, as well as the research and experimentations about devices and techniques to make music on the fly.

The baptism of this label, is a four track EP.
All the productions took shape on Dynamic Stasis live sets, gig after gig, perfecting the live set from its bone to the smallest details, starting out as simple SEQUENCES, then evolving into refined tracks.

In the production process there was only one rule: performing the tracks and recording them trying to catch the energy and uniqueness of the moment, and imprinting the analog feeling of the human intervention.

This is a Techno release: techno, in part, because the tracks put together for this release have a four-on-the floor structure, but techno mostly as in "techno-logic", because they were produced with the aid of technological devices.

Every tracks of this EP, each one carrying its own diversity and its own varied palette of inspirations, can be seen as a personal interpretation of Techno Music.

SEQUENCES are the link that holds this EP together: sequences like small and interconnected segments that make up a song, or a live set, or the plot of a story, as well as the structured, regular and intelligible patterns that made out the plot used as the foundation of the artwork, which was pulled out from a series of plots (graphic rappresentations) of roots of POLYNOMIALS.

Into The Flow

On Darkness & Light (Piano Works)

“Custos Luminis”, in Latin stands for “Guardian of the Light”.

This track was composed in less than two days, throughout a peak of sorrow and sadness as I was sinking in a sea of dark thoughts and feelings, and I was trying desperately to stay afloat but I couldn’t recover myself, so I just take my keyboard, I started playing and I followed the flow of my emotions. 

I decided to give this track a name that could suggest a sense of resilience and that could imprint the bright awareness of the existence of some space between my Self and my inner pain and to shield some beautiful memories I have. Both of this are often, unavoidably, darkened by difficult circumstances, so this track for me is kind of a reminder.

The composition is very minimal: for the main melody I used a mellowed electric piano matched with a grand piano. The instrument that I obtained was sent to a delay and to a reverb both as return tracks: the reverb's been set with an infinite decay time so that, while the melody gets richer with upper octaves, it expands its frequency spectrum and produce an increasing atmospheric background. The climax approaching has been emphasized  by a high frequency modulated synth and a low bass. Finally, I put a hi-hat with a full wet reverb effect which gives a faint groove and some recording of a rainy day.

Custos Luminis

This track has been extracted from a jam performed in Ableton Live.

I used two digital instruments that I've programmed to emulate the tb303 and the tr909 sound.

Techno Jam #01

Dynamic Stasis blends elements of Techno with synthesizers-inspired music, ambient atmospheres and psychedelic soundscapes.
Reaching for something moody but congruent and often breaking the steady pattern of the kick drum, the main point is to induce listeners to movement and meanwhile drive them into a mental journey.

The producer performs his music live so that a good half of the set is totally improvised. 
The live approach is a constant in his productions too, trying to capture and keep intact the spontaneity and uniqueness of a live jam.
