So in all seriousness, the deathstep scene is really saddening me. The lack of effort and love that people put into their music when producing is I think the source. People want to be popular quick, and now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of making a new light kind of deathstep, which is an ugly combination of riddim, tearout, and deathstep elements. 

What I want to say without insulting anyone is to please love what you are doing and love your music. Make music that is unique to yourself, that only you can come up with, and are proud with. Every song I've ever made, especially the shit songs I made when I first started out years ago, I could listen to all day. You should enjoy making music, it's art after all. 

If you all of a sudden lost all your project files, presets and samples, would you be able to produce music similar to what you had before? If so, then you do have a style, and know what you're doing. If not, then it is generic and you need to reconsider why you produce.

And on top of this, heavy music is dead, save for a few producers out there who still remember where deathstep came from, kudos to those <3.
