OVERVIEW:
Kondaktor, the Athenian producer who made his debut last year at Further
Records, releases music for the sixth Modal Analysis record. Signal EP includes two original tracks Signal #1 and Signal #2 which were created through the manipulation of field recordings, that are structured as a collage of sounds delivering a deep and claustrophobic sensation. On the other side of the record, Sawf and ANFS construct two versions of the tracks taking a more industrial and rhythmic approach to the existing works.

Overview:

Sonic EP is the second contribution of Sawf to the Modal Analysis catalogue.
The Greek producer, and core member of the Modal Analysis roster, delivers a mind-blowing 4-tracker with a clear intention to interpret an industrial-noise aesthetic from a techno perspective. Sonic#1 is a cut from the intro of Sawf’s LIVE set, offering a powerful combo of processed vocals and distorted soundscapes. Sonic#2 comes as a long and stepping beast that creates the uncomfortable feeling of a horror movie soundtrack. On the B side; Sonic#3 blends blurry vocals with rhythmic industrial elements on a breath-taking bass-line, while Sonic#4 presents Sawf’s charisma on impro-noise compositions.

Back in 2000 the Greek artist Sawf got into electronic music. He bought a synthesizer and a drum machine and started experimenting with sounds, setting the ground for his unique and raw style. Ιn 2011 he released his fist album “Flaws” on the UK label Perc Trax followed by several Eps on the same label.
Through the years Sawf has released numerous eps on labels such as Audio Assault (Netherlands), Prosthetic Pressings (USA) and more as well as  Greek record labels Kafta, Vanila,Modal Analysis.His latest release for 2016 is a track named "Imitators Sleep" in a cassette compilation on Phormix.
Together with fellow Greek artist ANFS, they have formed a project called Vofa counting two releases on Vanila and Pi Electronics respectively.
In 2016 he launched his own record label called KAFTA with a colorful ep, Ms Roxanne, consisting of 4 tracks by Sawf.
As a DJ, Sawf moves in many different directions, all with his distinctive industrial techno mood. His DJ sets differ from one another in style but as with his productions, his edits or reworks, all have this characteristic hypnotic feel to them.
Sawf is the great manipulator, he can make you lose control and take your body and soul for a ride.

This is the return of the collaborative project ‘VOFA’, by Sawf and ANFS, on Pi Electronics. The Athens based duo, that put out the label’s debut release, deliver another 4-tracker of their signature sound for the 5th Pi record. PI05.1 is a bass line oriented composition of thrilling beauty, while PI05.2 and PI05.4 provide different takes on the main PI05 theme: one leaning closer to UK breaks’ influences and the other closer to industrial, hard hitting broken beats. Pi05.3 offers a driving tool of distorted realities and tuning bass lines. Sawf, Perc Trax’s most mysterious artist returns to the label he calls home after EP’s for Modal Analysis, Audio Assault and M-Rec. This is his first new material for Perc Trax since his well received album ‘Flaws’ in 2011 and shows him introducing new influences to his trademark grinding, industrial sound.

First up is title track Menete, built around a 16th note synth line that recalls everything from classic EBM to more modern synth-led techno such as the recent Sleeparchive EP on Tresor.  Closing the a-side is Toolio, a far too modest title for a track that is far from a disposable techno tool.  An expert exercise in building percussion, this is closest to the sound people know from Sawf, but the best example of it yet.

Opening up the b-side is a remix from Yuji Kondo; know best for his work under both his own name and as half of Steven Porter on Semantica. The remix is everything you’d expect from Yuji. A wall of broken-beat noise topped off by cut up vocals samples and a fluid, ever-changing arrangement. Closing the 12” is ‘Diin’. A deeper, almost house-like cut from Sawf, building on a probing bass guitar line, proving he can do subtle and atmospheric as well as he does tough and confrontational.
