Hailed as “LA's best kept secret”, David “DAVI” Khanjian internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, radio host, and label owner grew up surrounded by the sounds of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Deeply passionate about music since childhood, it didn't take long before he was admitted to the prestigious Komitas State Conservatory's music department in Yerevan, Armenia. But it wasn't until his move to Los Angeles that the magic truly began to unfold.

At the young age of 17, Davi began producing electronic dance music inspired by many world-class producers and DJjs like Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Howells and 16 Bit Lolitas. Shortly thereafter he was the resident at the top electronic dance club in Armenia where his career began to unfold. 

With his move to Los Angeles in 2006, Davi dove right into the underground scene and locked himself in the studio for years to follow while playing at local Los Angeles clubs nights like Monday Night Social at Playhouse, Avalon, and Vanguard.

Davi’s countless hours in the studio opened many doors for him, first of which was remixing Robert Babiczs’ “Zero” anthem which was released on the new Treibstoff label at the time. Earning recognition from top DJs in the scene like John Digweed, Guy J, Nick Warren, and 16 Bit Lolitas; Davi began establishing a name for himself in the Los Angeles underground scene. 

Shortly thereafter in 2010 Davi became a resident DJ for Insomniac Events in Los Angeles, where he established his residency at Exchange LA and began playing Insomniac Festivals including twice at Escape from Wonderland opening for Richie Hawtin’s Enter stage. Since Davi’s connection with Insomniac, he has been sharing the decks with some of the top producers and DJ’s of our time including John Digweed, Sasha, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Green Velvet, Art Department, James Zabiela and Hernan Cattaneo to name a few. 

Davi’s name can be found on multiple labels today including Rebellion, Anjunadeep, Treibstoff, Hope Recordings, and Baroque. After having attended Burning Man for over six years, Davi collectively put all his Rebel heart inspiration in the studio to create his first Crosstown Rebels EP in 2013 called “Two Suns in the Sky.” This was a tremendous boost to Davi’s career, which led him to begin touring worldwide in 2014 having visited London, Amsterdam, Israel, New Caledonia, Canada and all over the United States Miami, New York, Boston, and Las Vegas among others.  After Two Suns In the Sky, I wanted to release another similar EP with the same mystic vibe and harmonies, but I wanted the EP to be about something else,” DAVI explains. “As I might take a little  break from making Middle Eastern sounds, I wanted this one to be as special. The word ‘Babylon’ is used in a larger sense to describe the modern world, and the importance it places on wealth and power.”

Score: 8/10 (Very Atmospheric/Chill)

    Genre: Deep House / Melodic Techno / Downtempo.

    Vibe: This track has a sophisticated, nocturnal atmosphere. It fits perfectly into a "Late Night Drive" or "Coding/Focus" playlist.

    Production: The mix is clean. The bassline ("ancient roots") is deep and resonant without being muddy, and the percussion ("liquid drums") has a nice, crisp snap to it. The use of "isochronic tones" mentioned in the lyrics actually matches the hypnotic, repetitive nature of the beat.

    Vocals: The vocal style is breathy and ethereal, sitting perfectly in the mix as an instrument rather than overpowering the beat.

    ** lyrical Content:** The lyrics are quite meta—they poetically describe the actual elements of the music itself (drums, bass, pads, isochronic tones). It gives the song a self-aware, almost cybernetic garden vibe.

Verdict: A hypnotic, well-produced track that excels at creating a mood.

As a music lover likings are flexible but have a very strong dislikes. Love listening to any genre or language of music that sounds good to my ears and stings my heart which takes me to the floor to dance as if there's NO TOMORROW................NOBODY WATCHING.

It takes me to the places where I can walk through the emotions and finally lay my body down on them. Places where rewinding, pausing and forwarding the journey of life becomes possible at least for a few minutes. Where inspiration and the courage to follow the restless urges of intuition extend that journey to the deepest fathoms of life. Music is the substance that transports me to places that otherwise would remain sunk under the violent tides of time.
