There might be rats in the palm trees, but where are Popstrangers? Out on the water. The New Zealand trio recorded this new 7-inch in an old lightship moored on the River Thames in London, where the band moved in April. The recording and mixing with Rory Attwell (Warm Brains, Test Icicles) only took one weekend on the river and produced the roaring, restless "Rats In The Palm Trees" and its daydream memory B-side, "Fortuna."

Popstrangers - Rats In The Palm Trees

Paradise emerge from a summer slumber with a pair of new electronic guitar pop anthems. The London duo will release double A-side single, “Stars Shine Bright” and “I Can Feel Your Love” on November 18th via Dirty Bingo Records.

Their new single finds Paradise going deeper into the electronic realm, grappling with childish naivety with newfound samplers and synth.   

“Stars Shine Bright” was recorded on location in a sealed bunker known as A10/The Empty Parallel  (the spiritual home of Paradise & The New Legendary Children of Mu).  It is a rallying call for the youth, addictive and dense, pop hooks stitched and woven through breakbeats, drum machines, synths and guitar.

Axel Boman broke through in 2010 with his Holy Love EP, released on DJ Koze's Pampa Records. The track Purple Drank became an instant classic in underground house music circles – since then, Boman has toured extensively while releasing original productions and remixes on labels like DFA, Hypercolour, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and Ovum, as well as on Studio Barnhus, the label he runs together with Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist.

Family Vacation, Boman's debut album, arrives on Studio Barnhus in November 2013.

“I decided to go through the vast collection of ideas and sketches I had on my computer, as a final project before I set that machine on fire and let it all go up in flames. Kind of like what Lee "Scratch" Perry did with The Black Ark in Kingston in the 70's. A friend says the album sounds like “weird Jamaican space disco" so maybe it's a fitting reference”, says Boman himself.

Axel Boman's music has also been described as "raw and playful house music drenched in oceans of soul". He graduated with a master's degree from Valand School of Fine Arts in 2010 and currently lives in the calm and peaceful Stockholm suburb Gröndal.
