Touted as the next Lindstrom, Third Attempt is the production moniker of Torje Fagertun Spilde, a 22 year old artist and DJ based in Tromsø. A natural fit for Beatservice' left-field take on cosmic disco and wonky house, Third Attempt's album 'World Is Too Loud' continues with his signature style of funk and disco, jazz and deep house . Here we feature 'Transit'; an organic slice of downbeat jazzy grooves. Shuffling drums and slick live elements combine for a smokey, bluesy affair. Unmistakable in its Nordic style, and reminiscent of early Paper Recordings and Svek Records.

Acid Lab returns to AGN7 Audio with his “Secret Weapon EP”. With releases on a host of recognized underground imprints, he has offered steady contributions to many areas of the Drum & Bass and Bass music community throughout the years, under several aliases including Kodama and Ahmad.

This release sees him cover new territory, experimenting with various tempos while maintaining 90s jungle aesthetic. Both “Shadow Recruit” and title track “Secret Weapon” clock in at 140 bpm, loaning themselves to breakbeat-oriented DJ sets that seek versatility.  With “Unleash” and “Before The Storm” at 160+ bpm, Acid Lab revisits the ‘golden era’ of tech step style. In both approaches, Acid Lab creates rolling, break driven infectious grooves in formats that are both nostalgic as well forward thinking for a new generation of DJs and Breakbeat/Bass music afficionados.

After a small digital break, here is new record from the Comic Sans' vaults. First world appearance for Low Khey with 10 tracks exploring the 90-100 bpm side of experimental bass music. Call it mutant dancehall, deconstructed dub or industrial riddims, it's difficult to describe precisely in which genre the release falls. Let's just imagine that Vybz Cartels' beats met Adrian Sherwood's punk dub sound design and that the whole thing was supervised by the evil twin of DJ Python. The big space left to the drums and the precise use of robotic sound-effects give a hyper-mechanical aspect to the riddim tracks which are aired by several interludes made of weird FX making it sound like futuristic commercials for spaceships or intergalactic bitcoin exchange. The whole project has hidden references to artificial intelligence and problems that human are facing regarding the technology. The world in wich Low Khey lives is dominated by machines, and mankind is having a rough time to say the least! But there is hope for our Homo Sapien friend... If only he kept in mind this simple advice : Never. Trust. A. Cyborg.

Whilst all are deeply rooted in a spiritual and ethereal sound, his most majestic output has arguably come to life through the https://soundcloud.com/illuvia alias. After capping off a debut, self-titled album in 2017 with an atmospheric Drum and Bass track, it quickly sparked a two-year conversation between Ludvig and A Strangely Isolated Place to pursue a full record in this style. 

Focusing on the far reaches of both the Ambient and Drum and Bass spectrums, Iridescence Of Clouds, combines the two extremities. Soaring, euphoric Ambient textures overlay distant echoes of driving Drum and Bass, before subtly transitioning to drums at the forefront, once again.

Typically atmospheric Drum and Bass song structures become blurred, as half-step kick patterns sit amongst more recognizable Amen breaks; or reverb-heavy drums; often echoing the worlds of Ludvig’s other aliases - his fingerprint instantly recognizable. The expected breakdowns are often ephemeral; teased slowly into existence and then faded into the background as each track weaves in and out of the two musical spectrums and the progressive emotion of the album unfolds at a glorious, soaring pace.

Next-gen junglists No Nation and Sheba Q join the Diffrent Music roster, bringing with them the rebirth of the GiraffeStep series.

An incubator for up-and-coming talent that saw early releases from the likes of Fixate, Lakeway, Conduct and Crypticz, the last GiraffeStep release came in early 2018 with Itti’s ‘Ritual’ EP. Confined to the pages of history since then, a new wave of talent has inspired label boss Dexta and breathed new life into the series. Returning with a new look for 2021, GiraffeStep kicks off with a brace of tracks from two of London’s most exciting rising talents.

No Nation started out spinning soul, RnB and hip-hop at nights across the UK capital, including Vibe London where he held down a residency. Though he’s since moved into more high-energy territory via his Subtle Radio show and Mutuality event, which stormed The Cause in 2020, these sounds still inform his sets and productions.
Sheba Q built her name via her Jam In The Attic events in Brixton. A member of the House Of Hi-FI crew, who are focused on closing the gender imbalance and supporting womxn in d&b, she also hosts a show on Subtle and in 2020 delivered fiery guest mixes for the likes of DJ Mag and Goat Shed.

The pair met a decade ago, while studying engineering at Queen Mary University in London; initially connecting over a mutual love of soul and hip-hop, it’s in jungle that they’ve now found a shared rhythm. At the end of 2019 they decided to focus their efforts on production, and grabbed the attention of many with the searing ‘Too Late’ in summer 2020, which took aim at those involved in the cultural whitewashing of jungle music and delivered a lesson in furious breakbeat science in the process. (A version of this track has been signed to Diffrent’s forthcoming ‘Revolution Of The Giraffe’ LP.)


For their Diffrent debut, the pair deliver two cerebral but propellant cuts. ‘Seasonal Grief’ is swathed in cosmic pads and driven by the infectious groove of funky conga rolls. It isn’t until near-halfway through that a glistening sax drifts through the mix, delivering an empyrean moment, before fading once more, consumed by a voracious beat and melancholy keys.

‘Mother of Mars’ is similarly unpredictable. A familiar harmonica intro is met by the thump and clatter of rolling drums, that all of a sudden give way to an unearthly vocal and ominous bassline, as if summoning the ghosts of the titular, long dead planet. As the track moves forward, the break becomes increasingly fragmented, flinging out chunky kicks and the razor-sharp shrapnel of detonated snares.

GiraffeStep couldn’t ask for a better start to its new life, and the release is an early marker of a year No Nation and Sheba Q are ready to take by storm. Available digitally and as a limited edition 10” vinyl, ‘Seasonal Grief’ / ‘Mother of Mars’ will be available to pre-order on 5th February ahead of full release on 26th February.

UK based producer Hugo Massien has been slowly but surely making a name for himself over the past few years. Metamorphosis marks Hugo’s debut LP on the E-Beamz Record label.

Having first released in 2014 he quickly built a legion of fans who absolutely loved his bass heavy breaks, sometimes wonky beats, trance rave, and acid tinged sound. By 2018 he had released a winning string of EPs on various imprints including XL Recordings, Keysound, 17 Steps, Unknown to the Unknown and of course E-Beamz.

He now drops his debut album Metamorphosis which brings together all the best elements of Hugo’s creativity into one cohesive release.

Michal Poncar started his playing in 1993 under a name DJ Face. In that times it was just in small places near Prague. As an eager Radio 1 listener he met Béla Némeshegyi and very soon he started to write reviews for Béla..s Pareniste server under a nickname Myclick.

In 1999 he was also contributing with reviews of new records to Tripmag magazine thanks to Honza Babka who was editor in chief in that time. One year later, after his work for Trance.cz server, Mellow with Dan Kafka offered him a collaboration with Techno.cz.

After reviews with unbelievable 13.000 types he is enjoying writting of voluminous reports from the events he took part in. He is preparing news from the world of dance music for this website and publishes DJ beginners..sets. Since 2004 you can hear him two times a week on
Akropolis Internet Radio in programmes Techno.cz on Akropolis Radio and Techno.cz In Da Mix where he is interviewing DJs and mixing live sets right in studio.

House in all its periods was his favourite. But there was basic change at the end of 2001 and the beginning of 2002. Then he was contacted by <a href="http://www.lucasross.net" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Lucas Ross</a> the guitar player, Mataro purchased electronic percussion and Face 2 Face project had got its roughcast. Every performance took place with different guests and with different repertory. Five musician formation Face 2 Face with records and live instruments combination was performing beside small clubs also at Sazava Fest, Creamfields and several times in Roxy Club.

DJ Face currently enjoys first of all nu disco, deep house, dubby house and minimal house and an ideal performance is to him 
a nights Unplugged @ House boat U Bukanyra, House 4 Adults @ 2. patro with DJ Cubik, Groove Bar and Moovement with DJ Diom, Bar v Krymsky with MC Manda, Luft Cafe and Moje Muza with Pavel Aeling and Namax.


At the beginning of 2010 the circle closes and his big dream comes true... Side by side with his friends who he called about his musical wishes to the Radio 1 in the mid of 90th,
