The album closes on a high note of self-acknowledgement and hope with the punk
inspired “Who Luvs You”.

Using cowboy imagery, “Headin” For A Wreck” opens the album with choices, none
of which appeal to the singer.

“Follow Your Heart” answers some of the questions in “Headin’ For A Wreck”.
Whatever the choices, the song urges one to Follow Your Heart.

For something totally different, Christina remakes Bruce Springsteen’s acoustic
“State Trooper” into the driving, (literally), anthem of a desperate woman on the
run from her demons. (Used by permission.)

As with many of Christina’s songs, it’s real pretty until you listen to the words.

Bluebirds

The title track, “Americana Motel”, could be the woman from "State Trooper" at a less desperate time…on the road in search of a temporary safe haven.

“Townes” is a haunting song about the wanderings of songwriter Townes Van Zandt and what his travels through New Mexico may have been like.

"Townes" won Best Americana Song at the 2013 New Mexico Music Awards.

A fan of George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Christina had their great duets in
mind with “Little Blue House”. However the bridge takes the song far away from
the traditional sound.

A sonic rodeo of original Americana, Alt Country Twang, old school Rock ‘n Roll and Spaghetti Western, E. Christina Herr & Wild Frontier evoke a compelling musical weather report from the West and Southwest of yesterday and today.

Christina’s crystal clear alto voice and tremolo vibrato contrasts brilliantly with the ring of vintage acoustic and electric guitar twang, atmospheric lap steel and driving upright bass & drums.  She’s been compared to Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell, Wanda Jackson and Chrissie Hynde.

Wild Frontier reflects influences from the psychedelic Neil Young and Crazy Horse, the cosmic alt country of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers, Don Rich’s Bakersfield sound, John Ford’s atmospheric landscapes and Ennio Morricone spaghetti western soundtracks.

The songs on Wild Frontier’s latest CD, Lullabies and Cautionary Tales, cover a wide range of rhythms and themes.
Beats range from shuffles, rockabilly, two-steps, cowboy waltzes and southwest flair. Flavored with an original sound the band calls Western Gothic.
