Warning!! Be prepared to be blown away! Next submission for the 1984 comes from our very own Tom Slatter (aka a quality without a name). Many of you know him to be somewhat of a perfectionist so it will come as no surprise that his cover/reinterpretation of the classic summer hit of 1984, 'Time After Time' by Cyndi Lauper is an absolute SHOW STOPPER. Add to that the beautifully delicate vocal by Lyndsie Alguire and... Boom! Magic happens!

Wow! Let me just grab my breath here... 'It'll End In Tears' was the 1984 Debut Album of a group of already renowned 4AD artists including Dead Can Dance, Howard Devoto and Elizabeth Frazer (Cocteau Twins)to name a few. Had they formed in 2014, I can only imagine that this coveted list of artists would have also included Arielle Esther. In what can only be described as an ethereal masterpiece, Arielle has lovingly re-crafted and dare I say "improved immensely" on one of the stand-out tracks of the album, 'Song to the Siren'. Words beyond this fail to do justice...

Run-DMC is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential and best known acts in the history of hip hop culture. They were also the first group in the genre to be awarded a gold album (Run–DMC, 1984) and be nominated for a Grammy Award. The world of Hip Hop, Rap, and even today's R&B Artists will forever be indebted to them. Benjamin Wylie (Siren Sun front-man) has taken on the brave and hefty task of reinterpreting their break-out single, 'It's Like That' and transforming it into a booty-shaking, hybrid filter house/new school, vocoder driven, android floor filler! We challenge your body to resist it's primal urge to move!

This Is What You Want... This Is What You Get is a 1984 album by Public Image Ltd. It was the band's fourth official studio album and includes the single "Bad Life", and a re-recorded version of a "This Is Not a Love Song", which had been a No. 5 UK and international hit when released as a single in 1983. An early version of the album was released in 1983 by founding PiL guitarist Keith Levene as Commercial Zone. The album was then re-recorded in 1984 after Levene's departure from the band, with no contributions from either Levene or bassist Pete Jones. 

The song "The Order of Death" appears in the 1990 science fiction film, Hardware and also featured in the Miami Vice episode, "Little Miss Dangerous". 2014 sees 'The Order of Deaths' resurrection from the grave by long-time PiL fan, Gravity Feeder. It still has the same heart beat but there is new blood running through the veins of this all-time PiL classic. Enjoy!

Pseudo Echo are an Australian new wave band formed in 1982 in Melbourne. They released their début album, Autumnal Park in 1984 which peaked at No. 11 on the Australian Kent Music Report and had Australian top 20 hits with "Listening" (reaching No.4), "A Beat for You" (No. 12), "Stranger in Me" and "Dancing Till Midnight". "His Eyes", another album track also received overseas exposure when it was used in the film Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Rock music historian Ian McFarlane, stated they "combined flash clothes, blow-wave hairstyles, youthful exuberance and made accessible synth-pop for a ready-made audience among teenagers who fawned on the band's every move". 

Melbourne artist and avid lover of the New Romantic sound, AudioblivioN (aka Jake ObLivion) has painstakingly reproduced Pseudo Echo's début hit, "Listening" in such minute detail, that if it weren't for the fat analogue sound and the new vocal, I could have easily mistaken it for the original in the those glorious opening bars. While this may prove more meaningful to Australians in the context of musical history, one look at the comments on Amazon from those around the globe who have since discovered Pseudo Echo's Autumnal Park will convince you that this is a part of musical history worth acquainting yourself with. Congratulations, Jake. You have completely nailed it!
