Clouds (Knowledge Build Edition)

In light of America's widespread police brutality, manifest Racism, and the resistance shown forth by the oppressed in scenarios such as the Baltimore Uprising, producer, David West a.k.a Krayola, called upon willing emcees to express the emotions currently pervading the Black population, as well as discuss proactive solutions to the problems we face in a re-making of the classic song "Self-Destruction". In honor of one of my personal heroes, Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz), on his Bornday, I release the original, uncut version of the verse I did for the song.

There's a reason I haven't released any new music this Summer. I allocated that time towards getting my mind right. [I'm actually still working through that process, but I feel I'm at a point in it where I can start putting some material out again.] 

The version of "Clouds" I released back in March, on my Bornday, may have only been a verse. But at the heart of it, it was more than a verse — it was a Prayer, an invocation, a supplication, an affirmation for growth, both personal and artistic. This version of "Clouds" details the path I walked [and that I continue to walk] in fulfillment of that Prayer — touching on my Senior Year of High School and matriculation into College. This is dedicated to all who encounter difficulties and push on to the promised Victory [and continue to do so daily]. 

Allahu Alaam.

The week of #JusticeOrElse has arrived! Here's the extended version of  "Self Destruct - Anger", a song of mine speaking to that very emotion. It includes my song "Self Construction", where I really get to buildin' on what the solutions to our problem are. [Both beats produced by Krayola].

Be in D.C. on October 10. It's not a March, but in the words of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, "a gathering of those who are sober minded and serious about placing a demand on the United States government and putting power behind that demand to force the government to give us what we deserve." Emphasis on that latter part of the statement. We all want Justice, but what are we willing to do for it? Are we willing to regulate our spending to Black businesses on Black Friday? How about Christmas? How about 365 days of the year? That's how we build and put that Power behind our demand. Show & prove that you really serious about this! Let's Do for Self and become Independent like we supposed to be!

DMV, Right On Time - Single

E.L.P.J. is an Emcee & Poet from the DMV area. Born and raised in Hip Hop, it was destined that he would pick up the mic and put on for the culture. E started rhyming around the age of 9 or 10 and self-released his debut EP/mixtape, "Visions In Blue" in the summer of 2011 at the age of 14. He also started building his buzz with enumerable performances throughout the DMV area, and more recently in Philly, Durham, New York City, and even Sweden! He's released various singles, most notably, "DMV, Right On Time", an anthem dedicated to his region rapped over the Canei Finch produced Kendrick Lamar banger, "Westside, Right On Time". In the summer of 2013, he put out his second mixtape, "Verbal Technique Vol. 1". He is also an alumnus of the DC Youth Slam Poetry Team, a collective their poetry to speak on issues of social justice and take action. 

E.L.P.J.'s ultimate goal - and what he deems his "mission" - is to change the world for the better. This he intends to do initially by teaching through his music and poetry. He hopes to reach and spark the minds of the masses, especially of his generation, in order to assist in the fostering in of a new age of worldwide revolution, both in thinking and action. He will also use his art as a platform for more direct activism and education. Lauded for his lyrical content, versatile flow, charismatic tone, and the old school values instilled in him by the influence of the golden age and underground Hip Hop on his music, E.L.P.J. is definitely on the come up and someone to watch for!
