Love...as a feeling you get when you go over Niagara Falls in a barrel?

That image was developed by simply approaching a collaboration (with UK musician, Anthony Gee - Liquid on mp3u) with the "start where you are" wisdom. What is more iconic for people working with a Canadian than Niagara Falls? 

Anthony had been exploring electronica using a midi keyboard, but had never written a rock tune. Ever ready for opportunities to help others, I asked Anthony for a keyboard progression as a foundation, since he was taking piano lessons at the time, and from that foundation the rock track would be built with the addition of lyrics, guitar, and harmonica. Eventually the song needed an instrumental, and that was where the real learning for Anthony took place - he had never learned to improvise, only to read music. Thinking out of the box and feeling the music is a little intimidating for some. So, many file-exchanges later, he had let his hair down enough to try that rock organ phrase that appears here. 

Here's to learning, to experimenting, to learning to give control over to others and to celebrating life-long learning. Who ever said you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

On April 10th 2019, the world saw the first-ever image of a black hole, as an international team of researchers from the Event Horizon Telescope project released their look at the supermassive black hole. 

This black hole captured by the telescope lies 55 million light-years away, at the heart Messier 87, a supergiant elliptical galaxy in the constellation Virgo. At 6.5 billion times bigger than our sun, it is unimaginably supermassive—the surrounding circular field of electrified gas or plasma captured in the image measures about 30 billion miles across, or four times Pluto’s orbit.

Paradoxically, despite their light-swallowing capability, black holes are the most luminous objects in the universe. Material — gas, dust, shredded stars — that falls into a black hole is heated to millions of degrees as it swirls around the drain of doom in a dense maelstrom of electromagnetic fields. Most of that matter falls into the black hole, but some is pushed out, by enormous pressures and magnetic fields. How all of this energy arises and is marshaled remains unknown to astronomers. 

The singularity at the center of a black hole is the ultimate no man's land: a place where matter is compressed down to an infinitely tiny point, and all conceptions of time and space completely break down. And it doesn't really exist. Something has to replace the singularity, but we're not exactly sure what.

Dave Cooper wrote the song based on lyrics from Dan Lockhart.  Dave Cooper sings and plays acoustic guitar.  Dan Lockhart provided the backup instrumentation (Steel drums, percussion, flute).

Track shows a very delicate theme and a quite hard-riffed part, both alternating and finally flowing up to an endless symphonic dream (words are half a poem I wrote previously (not these, but lyrics below)).
