As a devout atheist from my early years I have consequently chosen not to believe in anything that doesn’t have a justifiable or logical explanation. The concept of luck certainly comes into that category as it seems to suggest an exterior force as it’s cause, something I simply cannot accept.

But even non-believers talk about luck being either for or against them, throwing spilled salt over their shoulders or not walking under ladders, because these have become part of everyday behaviour or  language, dictated by habit more than any sense of logic.  The terms in this song all relate to some mysterious good or bad vibe, including - and I’ve known people who actually do this - which direction in which your bed might face when you’re asleep.

Although also a devout atheist, my brother Gal is a good example of such habits, often using the term “Touch Wood” if he wants something to happen in his or our favour.  I think he inherited this from our Mum, who used to say it all the time and would go as far as trying to touch something made of wood to complete the ‘spell', not always easy in what had become an increasingly plastic age.

Despite all of the above, I think Gal must have been ‘Touching Wood’ when he first formed a friendship with Hans, because I’m still not at all sure that we deserve to be associated with someone of such proficiency, consummate talent and innate kindness.  Some may say we have been very lucky.  We have certainly been exceedingly fortunate, which is just about as far as I’m prepared to go.  Whatever your beliefs, we hope you enjoy the song. A few weeks ago I first heard https://soundcloud.com/user-369089703/stay-original and could already feel the words filling my head before it had finished playing. The song reminded me of a favourite band of mine, Procol Harum because of the piano/organ arrangement. I asked if I could try to make a collaboration out of this wonderful melody and Pascal kindly agreed. Thank you so much for the opportunity Pascal and thank you for listening.

This is the 6th song posted from the album I started using demo tracks given to me by Wou-Wou & the Wormling during the start of the pandemic! This song was inspired by the mass shootings that plague the United States and the lack of progress this society and government makes toward increasing the safety and well being of all. I was recently surprised by an article in support of the “good guy with a gun” solution in a mainstream liberal news article. It’s basically the wild wild west out here still, lol.

Track shows a very delicate theme and a quite hard-riffed part, both alternating and finally flowing up to an endless symphonic dream (words are half a poem I wrote previously (not these, but lyrics below)).
