The Brightest Star /A fallen angel

Synesthesia is main motif for this song, first because of original lyrics, then as I felt like adding it more flavor with female vocals*, & finally when I recently watched some paintings about this matter**.

Quiero saber si hace calor (Vocals by Mara​Oldfield)

This is my first recording playing with real drums. Beyond this I have been working in this short song for a long time, trying to do licks and solos the best I can. The track is a hard rock piece (without diminished scales! but I´m not really sure...). I hope you like it.

Huge gratitude to my friend Caemon Rigby for reaching out and instantly inspiring me to make a song with him. He put massive amounts of love into the track and I think it came out so fresh and so clean! 

The song lyrics were partially inspired by woman who, many years ago, looked at me with sultry eyes and then whispered in my ears, "shiva shakti," after having a long sexy dance together. I think I must have also been thinking about Osho Ashram when writing these lyrics. haha.

As I get older -  try to stay sober - just long enough to realize it ain't over but it's getting colder - my knees getting weaker - I'm learning to stand all over again.
Seems that I've gone through - so many changes - what's left to conquer - am i getting so bored that i can't concentrate on the main goal - which nowadays is completely blurred
So leave me be with bottles and cans just let me reflect on the strange man that i am - we feel the conjecture in our tones - we're avoiding what we already know - If you look deeper beneath the layers of film in my eyes as they thicken every time i sip a sorrow away - it get's harder each day - putting on the show
My eyes will stay focused mainly on the next task – just as long as up my sleeve I find my flask – and while I’m submerged in all these urges and it’s hard to remember just where I am.

As most musicians know you have to get licensing permission from the publisher of any song if you want to stream your cover version on Spotify, Apple Music etc. and if you want radio play. Also if you change any of the lyrics you also have to get permission. Imagine my surprise when Chuck Berry’s Publishers gave me the OK to change several of the words in this classic tune!
Needless to say “Johnny B. Goode” is considered one of the most recognizable songs in Popular music. It is credited as the first Rock ’n Roll song about Rock ’n Roll stardom. My version of this classic was deeply influenced by Peter Tosh. An interesting side note - when Chuck Berry originally wrote this song he changed “coloured boy” to “country boy” to ensure radio play.

As we wound up on this, I received a message from Larbjo in which he stated that looking back on this project it was "a beautiful transatlantic partnership". I couldn't agree more. I've always found it difficult to navigate through projects with more than one collaborator, but Cyclops Brainworm Remnants proved to be a very well-balanced and effective, three-collaborator experience. 

Evolving from the concept of each artist developing a sonic structure and then handing off the sounds to one another, in an attempt to create three distinct pieces out of them. The differences in our approaches take the listener into places that couldn't exist as a whole without each individual intertwining piece. Wodwo's incredible bass and guitar motifs, Larbjo's intricate and thoughtful sound manipulations, coupled with my own arrangement style, has provided us with a truly unique experience. We hope you enjoy these 3 tracks which have been developed over the last month or so with this concept in mind.

My microcosms

Rodgers and Hart's “Blue Moon”, written in 1934, has been covered by so many great artists in so many distinctive styles that I shall not even attempt to list them.   The song was written in 4:4 and all the versions I have been able to find are recorded in 4:4.
Somewhere, and I do not remember where or by whom, I heard a version in 6:8 - if anyone can enlighten me, PLEASE DO!   At any rate, as a soloist, I would do the song in 6:8 because it just swung so naturally in that meter.
More recently while comparing the 4:4 and 6:8 versions of the song, I began to wonder if it could also be done convincingly in 7:8.   Hence this recording.
It consistes of 3 iterations, one in 8:8, one in 7:8 and one in 6:8.   To give the recording more depth and consistency, I asked Dan (ProgRockDan) Lockhart to check it out and add whatever he thought the track could use.   He very kindly, and promptly, did so.   Many thanks Dan!
The lead vocal, the rhythm guitar and the bass guitar are mine, Dan added percussion, the choral background and the instrumental orchestration.
At 6 and a half minutes, this is a long and somewhat repetitive track, but, those with an interest in vocal phrasing and comparative ambience might find some reward in listening right through to the end.
