Sun Rise Away(collab.with Mike Fox)

This is the latest song from the album Wou-Wou & the Wormling, Stricknice, Bitzone, and I have been working on. Like all the rest of the songs in the set, this one began during the start of the pandemic and reflects the changes in political perspective that were happening in society, and continue to this day. And, as with the other songs, I started this song with an unreleased demo from Wou-Wou and created a 1 minute outline which I then often passed on to a guest collaborator. When it came time to fully work on the track, I expanded on the original idea, along with the guest collaborator stems, until a full song was arranged. I then passed the bones and organs of the song to Stricknice and Bitzone to add any additional muscles and flesh they believed in until it was finished. I am so blessed to work with Wou-Wou, Bitzone, Stricknice, and all the guest collaborators on this inspired set, that one day will be complete. 

May everyone find something authentic to themselves to believe in.

Started as a kind of Raga--Jo created some lovely handmade words- and Stephen and his beautiful Duesenberg Guitar made some amazing droning magic to complete the vision--

@sonic-textures: First, there was amazing music made by STONERJAZZ. Then, I composed a poem and integrated it, surprising myself with having written the first 'love' poem in a long time - and to Snow White of all fairy-tale people! To highlight it all, TEXMEX SHAMAN made the music ring out even more beautifully. Eventually I created some artwork, inspired (by some reason I don't grasp myself at the moment) by those expensive vinyl imports from Japan. It might have to do with how much I value Jeff's and Stephen's guitar playing and creativity. It's a thrill ride to collab with those two experimental musicologists ;-)

Composition – The Eclectic Collective
This song started in probably the most effective way our group writes them. Ken had a spectacular drum beat that was unused in a previous project, so JJ composed and recorded with his magical keys a chord structure and arrangement. Once we had a beat and a chord structure, Josh came along and added his foundational bass. 
  Now that the rhythm section was complete and the chord structure was in place, Stephen added his unique melody line that you hear at the beginning and every other verse, alternating between the banjo and the guitar for it. He also added some really trippy sitar in the break section. Then it was time for Tez to add some spice to the mix with his fiery guitar solos, which you hear every other verse, eventually building up to a crescendo towards the end. 
  Once we had all the music down, we realized that we had a big gap in the bridge without much going on in it. So, Mark came through and recorded a cool poem he had written on his refigerator with word magnets more than a decade ago, captured with a picture, and added to for the this song. The girl's voice you hear echoing him is his daughter, in her first appearance with the EC. 
  The song was now finished, except for Mark using his masterful production skills to trim and move a few things. After he made those adjustments on, he threw a mix on it. While we usually defer to Tez or Stephen for the mix, Mark did such a great job, we decided to keep his mix. Stephen did, however master and EQ it to make it a finished product. 
  This is a song written truly as a whole band effort, showcasing what the Eclectic Collective can do. I hope you enjoy listening to is as much as we enjoyed creating it.

The bass and drums are based on a paradiddle (RLRR LRLL drum rudiment). I played the figure on pads, then moved the notes around various percussion instruments. The drums are mostly "linear", meaning no two notes hit at the same time. It kinda gives it a "Flim" feel. (although it sounds nothing like "Flim")
