One ordinary day, a young man named Tom was riding a bus when he suddenly had a splitting headache. He began to sway, and his eyes snapped shut as if he had lost consciousness. When he reopened his eyes, he found himself in a dark and mysterious place.

He felt a strong sense of fear, but soon realized that he was not alone. He saw a huge monster -- a monster eight feet tall, with burning red eyes, a skin that looked like it was made of stone and steel, and its arms covered with sharp spines.

Tom discovers to his horror that the monster is not real, but an illusion created in his mind. The name "The Apocalypse" came to mind, and he knew that this monster was the symbol of that name
