En este mix para Soundit, Gaspar Antuña trata de plasmar el espíritu de sus sesiones concentrado en un podcast de escasos 60 min. Una vuelta de 360ª por la música que más le gusta, que es mucha y muy variada. Lo pudimos ver y disfrutar el pasado año en directo y es un placer poder volver contar con él para nuestra serie de podcasts.

Profesor de música, label manager, programador y Dj, Gaspar Antuña lleva más de 20 años dedicado en cuerpo y alma a la música de baile. Sus inicios, situados en la frontera de este Siglo, arrancan como responsable de Appetizers Records, el sello de los navarros Wagon Cookin', programando el mítico Weekend Club madrileño y capitaneando la malograda radio Dial Soul 100.4, el oasis musical de la Radio del Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid.

Durante estas dos décadas ha combinado su trabajo como programador (Junco Jazz Club, Charada Club de Baile, GOA o Berlin Club) con el de Label Manager (Mondo Discos) pero sobre todo a afianzando su labor tras los platos como residente de varias salas de la Capital.

Actualmente, es responsable de la programación y residente de Berlin Club en Madrid, precisamente este mes de noviembre se celebran 10 años de su llegada a este club, referencia ineludible a nivel nacional.

Kicking off E1 London's mix series is none other than the legendary New York collective Body & Soul!

Body & Soul was founded in 1996 by François K. and John Davis. The Sunday afternoon party, which took place at Club Vinyl in New York’s Tribeca area, soon became one of New York’s most revered weekly parties. The three DJs, Danny Krivit, Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell and François K. delivered a unique soulful mix of very organic and spiritual dance music grooves, and became standard-bearers for New York house. On any given Sunday at Body & Soul, people from all walks of life, all ages, all races, raised their hands in the air and gave thanks for the unifying force that brought them back week after week: the music.

François Kevorkian’s is a truly New York story. Moving to the city from France in 1975, with a plan to become a great jazz drummer, he accidentally hustled his way into a gig playing live drums alongside one of the city’s greatest ever DJs – and from there, there was no looking back.
Spending his free time buying records, shopping mixtapes to club owners and constructing Scotch-taped re-edits of the era’s hottest tunes on a reel-to-reel recorder, he quickly established himself as a talent behind both the turntables and the mixing desk.
This led to a meeting at Prelude Records that would prove pivotal for the emerging disco scene, kickstarting a production career that began with remixing Musique’s smash hit “In The Bush” and has included everyone from Arthur Russell to Mick Jagger.

It is a kind of magic, very mundane in its effects and arcane in its origins, but accessible to everyone who’s willing to unearth forgotten charms that lie beyond mere availability in order to cast them at the right time in the right spaces. This is essentially the secret that distinguishes a collector - who just hoards those spells - from a selector - who shares their power with the public - and what makes Brasilian born and Brooklyn bound Mari Mac Dowell one of the finest among the latter. Using her Synth Waves platform to spread the aural conjurations found in her deep research of rhythmic patterns, she’s established herself as a reliable source of musical incantations that are deeply irresistible, vastly illuminating and thoroughly danceable. What else could we possibly ask for?

Dennis Kane is a renowned DJ, Producer, visual artist and writer, he has run the Ghost Town and Disques Sinthomme imprints, he partners with Darshan Jesrani in the group SIREN, and continues to work on new material and productions for his LESDK label. His most recent remix for Ilija Rudman’s “Sparks” is available now, upcoming is a remix for Rheinzand’s “14 Again”, LESDK’s second release will drop in December. Kane has been isolating in NYC’s Lower East Side with his son Roan Mingus. He likes to bike around the city late at night.
