You were really wet and really sweet. Thankyou for the crew for creating this magical space, thank you to all the new and old friends whom I shared beautiful moments of connection with - you all inspire me endlessly. 

Had a lot of fun free flowing with sounds that make me joyous and tracks that mean a lot to me. I am not here for perfection. I am here to be vulnerable and to share with you sounds that move me.

🎧  Phil Weé presents "Let's dive into music" Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 270 🎧 

With a little delay, we are finally able to present a special podcast to you today, which absolutely deserves the title timeless. But first things first. We're talking about Phil Wee, a wanderer between genre with a love of detail. Disharmonies, genre boundaries and tracks that can't be mixed together are not part of his vocabulary. In today's mix, Phil takes us on a relaxed and varied journey through the genres of electronic music. The mix is structured in an exemplary way and there is a lot to discover. You just have to get involved. That's a good thing, because in today's chaotic times, a little bit of calming down and focusing on the inner side of ourselves is just what we need. So let's dive into music!

How this mix came about and what his thoughts behind it are, she reveals to us as usual in our short interview:

[ °°INTERVIEW°° ]

✔️ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I started playing bass in a crust/grindcore band in the mid 90s at the request of a good friend, without ever having picked up a bass before. 
In the early 2000s, things calmed down with post-punk and alternative and we started mixing handmade band sound with electronica with friends. This brought together different styles such as indie, dub, break beats and drum and bass/jungle. Above all, jamming live gave me a deeper understanding of musical moods with repetitive sounds and beats. And the desire for new musical styles. The main entry points were the then Radio Multikulti from RBB and WDR5 Radio Funkhaus Europa (now COSMO)... and then more and more the Internet. In the mid-2000s, I started DJing in order to get all my impressions out in a mix. I really like these energising moments in tracks, when you somehow can't understand it with your head, but it still carries you on euphorically.


✔️ In your opinion, what is the perfect afterhour for you? 

A nice, relaxed atmosphere, places to chill... the party stressers have already left, and those who are there are full of the evening and in agreement with their own consumption, in the fading afterglow... peaceful and fulfilled.

✔️ What thoughts would you like to share with us about your mix?

For three years now, one global crisis has followed another and since the brutal terrorist attack by Hamas on Israeli and foreign civilians, the internet has been overflowing with fake news and open hatred. And many DJs/people from the dance scenes are also taking part. I think it's important to switch off, take a deep breath and check your own reactions. And conscientious fact checking and no pathetic fake news. The mix invites you to slow down. So let's dive into music!

✔️ With recordings of gigs: How did you feel about gigs in general?

Usually much more euphoric in real time than when listening back. Sometimes I don't care about small mistakes, sometimes I can't listen to a mix afterwards, let alone put it out. I'm generally pretty self-critical.

65 Millionen Menschen weltweit sind in diesem Moment auf der Flucht. 1,1 Mrd. Menschen in städtischen Gebieten haben laut UN keine angemessene Unterkunft. Ca. 370.000 Menschen in Deutschland leben auf der Straße.
100 Millionen Kinder haben keinen Ort, den sie Zuhause nennen können. 

ich bin privilegiert groß geworden - Vorstadt, großes Einfamilienhaus, Akademiker*innen - Familie, hohen Bildungsgrad, keine Sorgen um Geld - dennoch habe ich mich nie „zuhause“ gefühlt. 
Ich bin ausgezogen, umgezogen, habe die Stadt gewechselt - auf der Suche nach einem Ort, der mir ein Gefühl von Zuhause gibt. 
Ich habe die Hälfte meiner Herkunftsfamilie verloren, deshalb fühle ich mich in dieser Welt manchmal entwurzelt, fühle mich alleine gelassen… 
…dann finde ich ein Zuhause in anderen Menschen, finde es in mir selbst.. 

Aber werde ich jemals richtig ankommen? 

In diesem Set habe ich mich damit auseinandergesetzt, was Zuhause für mich bedeutet, was für ein Gefühl es auslöst und was für ein Privileg es ist überhaupt ein Zuhause zu haben. 
Vielleicht kann dich dieses Set nach Hause begleiten - Wo oder was auch immer das für dich ist… 

Mögest du einen Ort haben auf dieser Welt, an dem du dich Zuhause fühlst.

chapter 2 feels a bit like a detour as it's so groovy and quite full in sound.
when fixating on the final goal, one might hesitate a little to go further..
but i would suggest, since the journey is our reward, we take these extra miles lovingly into our arms.
