I love this area, it’s where I shot my video for I Do.  We went when it was heavy with rain and blowing a gale, no one else had ventured out, so in a strange way it was peaceful and calm, as dusk fell it became rather eery and I wrote this poem.  I visioned the noise of the men working and how the scence must have been, many lost their lives and it is just a credit to how things used to be built, hope you enjoy.

Tell Me Why

I was on Weirfm being interviewed for my song 'I Do' when I mentioned the night before that I had been watching my brothers Fred Dibnah DVD collection.  Roydon the presenter challenged me to write a Fred Dibnah song and here it is!  I hope you like it

I have put a trigger warning on this as it is extremely upsetting and raw.  It was very difficult to record as it was so upsetting how a child could be failed like this and the police and CPS refuse to take accountability. It was written by a 14 yr old  child who is a victim of child sexual abuse. The perpetrator was charged with 9 counts of child sexual abuse.  The victim was totally failed by the system and the perpetrator got away with it, not because he’s innocent because the police were so incompetent, through legal challenge, they have been forced to admit serious failings & that their investigation was unsatisfactory.  There was an abundance of evidence to easily secure a successfully conviction,  including text messages on his phone saying he was in bed with the child, which unbelievably was given back to the perpetrator by the police & this damning evidence was never used at trial.  Mother was threatened as she walked into court to give evidence ( independent witness has written statement, officer never made accountable) if she dared to expose this at trial. 
The police used an inexperienced and unqualified officer to oversee the case and she messed up unbelievably, she was portraying herself as a DI and was in fact not qualified, an offence in itself she had never been made accountable, could you imagine if a doctor etc stated they were qualified when not?  The CC has just swept this under the carpet 😡 But there were numerous more failings than this. The trial was a complete joke, it was obvious prior to trial that the O.I.C was incompetent, the jury were asked to decide on a Fri afternoon and just rushed their decision in an hr clearly to get home for the weekend.   The jury had not been informed that the perpetrator had a history of domestic violence, rape and GBH with numerous previous partners and individuals. Jury’s should not be used to decide CSA cases they have no experience or training of a manipulative narcissistic abuser.  Until the whole judicial system is over hauled, children like this will be failed daily and perpetrators will walk free, free to do as they please even running family campsites 😡

I know we all have to use the internet now especially for people who want to build their own media channels and promote their music etc, but some people are addicted and they are never off their phones, I saw a dad with his kids begging for his attention at the park and he actually never even gave his kids eye contact and never took his eyes off his phone, just scrolling and scrolling, the sight inspired me to write this song ‘If Only’ and him reflecting back on what he missed after death 😊

I think a lot of people will relate to this song who have been in an abusive relationship thank fully I haven’t but my mum predominantly wrote it and I helped her with parts and the lay out and the music.  I played the piano and drums and we both did vocals, a massive thanks to Mark Gray for the guitar 😍
