The EarlyIM (aka IM Band, aka Intellectual Monarchs) started its improvisational odyssey in San Francisco, CA, in 1995. Musicians included Seanchan Owen, leader/vocals; Frank Skillman, bass/guitar; John Girton, violin/mandolin; Lee Lustig, bass/audio; and Jack Perron, synth/web. Occasionally others joined, including Troy Sutton, drums, and Arty Sturges, drums. Today some of the original and new members of the Intellectual Monarchs continue to play together over the web. Their original, music-backed short stories style can be found on the SoundCloud/IMBAND site.
