Exclusive soundtrack made for Ears Have Ears by Sydney duo WDK consisting of members Jannah Quill and Laura Hunt. 

WDK was born out of the integration and expansion of the sonic elements of Quill and Hunt's individual art practices. Quill uses solar and light based technologies to sonically amplify digital machines and signals while Hunt is interested in creating organic contained spaces for amplification of fluids. The layering of these elemental energies through electricity combined with more traditional electronic music methods results in a skewed dance-noise music that carves its own structure in the untamed.

"Came to Earth to Leave was conceived as an instinctually charged collaboration to explore an abstract visitation and inevitable departure. The three movements track an arrival, an experience of human chaos, and a peaceful departure. We positioned ourselves as separate from the human condition, conscious observers of unconscious desire.  Light and water are used in the track as modulated, amplified electronic instruments and interfused with synthesizers and drum machine."

Parallel to creating woozy extended synth pop jams in duo Video Ezy (Paradise Daily) as well as pushing dynamic textural noise forms into unique shapes in UTI (duo with Maya Kjellstrand of Bleach Boys, Leopard Leg), Buchanan has arrived at a precision nexus of brutalist techno and a truly uplifting style of ecstatic melodic synth riffage. Conjuring thick atmospheres and tonalities with almost blu-ray levels of vibrancy is perhaps in essence attributable to the simplicity of her chosen elements; 1 synth, 1 drum machine - the rest is purely incendiary sparks, resonating brightly in the spaces in between. From the city that brought you LSD comes a new album by Marco Papiro, a Swiss-Italian musician and graphic designer who has gained some notoriety with his album covers for the likes of Panda Bear and Sun Araw. "Automare" is Papiro's seventh solo album, recorded on 4-track cassette, on hard-disk, in public and in private, entirely self-produced and now released on Nikolaienko's Muscut label.

The five hauntingly evocative tracks offer a variety of atmospheres from surreal to arcane, from celestial to subaqueous. Synthetic sounds (some mature EMS, Moog and Roland) are combined with other assorted instruments (organ, shehnai, electric guitar and bass,) and emulsified through various time-and-space-bending devices. There are no percussions, with one surprisingly groovy exception, in which a drum machine is being generously treated with phaser and envelope filters – think of early Cabaret Voltaire with a North Saharan touch.

Papiro's handcrafted artificial vocals are anything but human, but all the more compelling: out of the fluorescent Plankton of the side-long opening track "Rhenus Rebus" rises a siren's voice, reminiscent of Alide Maria Salvetta in Battiato's "Campane", joined in a final mantra by an oboe borrowed from an inebriated Third Ear Band. Entering a chimeric karaoke bar, the title track "Automare" makes the album even more bizarre by introducing a distinctive pop feel. Back to the abstract world, the following "Polmonella" – a live recording with additional musicians Anthony Glass (aka Antenna Tony Monorail) and Markus Stähli (of Roy & the Devil's Motorcycle) – is a fevery exploration of cosmic territories in the manner of Harmonia, while the alien articulation of "Incom" sounds unlike anything else ever recorded.

Avis de tempête est une création sonore collective née d'une déambulation dans les rues de Dinard, en août 2020. Les enregistrements de terrain explorent l'identité sonore de la ville : ses habitants, ses plages, ses cafés et ses parcs, ses cris, ses oiseaux et ses profondeurs marines. 

Ils ont été réalisés dans le cadre du workshop field-recording de Phonurgia Nova avec Félix Blume, par Aurélien Caillaux, Eric Mezan, Ganaëlle Maury, Gerald Wang, Grégoire Chauvot, Jérémie Faivre, Mélia Roger et Richard Federmann.

Echoic memories is conceived as a singular long-form piece/audience experience of approximately 60 minutes, consisting of three different movements structured around the physical layout and performance spaces of Villa Romana. Each space acts as a movement, or 'variation,' of musical gestures that recur and transform throughout the piece, interacting with the changes in locations and instrumentation. It is a mobile performance where the audience changes locations and the different ensembles and movements overlap, beginning and ending their respective movements as the audience transitions between locations. This mobile interaction allows the composition to explore both the locations of the musicians in each movement's ensemble, and the position of the audience themselves as they move toward and away from the sound.

This piece is focused on audience experience and how time, sonic distortion, and spatial context inform our perception, amplifying and unveiling different elements and layers of recurring material. The movements act not as linear developments of musical material, but as distorted 'variations' and spatial transpositions of the same experience.
