ALTERBEAST - "Vile Remnants"

Following countless years of personal hardships, studio disasters and times of music industry indecision, New Orleans’ own EYEHATEGOD, with much relief and excitement, are proud to announce the release of their brand new full-length! Entirely assembled and financed by the band, the self-titled, eleven-track long player will be released on May 27th by their partners at Housecore Records in North America, May 26th by Century Media in Europe, Australia and New Zealand and May 21st by Daymare in Japan.

Comments vocalist Mike IX Williams, “I have to say I don’t believe we’ve lost nary a step in the creation of this album and we think these newer songs are a killer combination of classic EYEHATEGOD mixed along with our best production, mixing, engineering and songwriting in thirteen years. The main and total tragic break in the chain, was obviously last year’s death of our great friend and drummer Joey LaCaze. However, his original drum tracks made it onto the final master recordings and we’re fucking psyched about that… As for working with Housecore, it was a no-brainer. As a band that helped create a genre as well as equate a city with a sound, EYEHATEGOD has always remained humble anytime words like “legend” were thrown around to describe them. The thing with legends is that they grow stronger in time and over the years, word of mouth has been kind to the band. EYEHATEGOD is bigger now than they ever have been in their twenty-five plus years as a band. Pretty impressive seeing as they haven’t released a full-length album in almost fifteen years. Most people who know the band have a story to tell or they heard a story about the guys. Whether it was them playing nothing but feedback to a bewildered White Zombie crowd during their opening stint for the arena metal band in the mid-nineties, being banned from a certain venue for attacking a promoter with a barstool or cleaning  out entire small towns of their drug supply, these stories spread  throughout the metal community over the years, usually through a game of one-up-manship, establishing them as one of the most notorious bands around.

Certainly not the first band to be surrounded by myth and lore, EYEHATEGOD’s staying and growing power ultimately comes from the music. No one riffs like Jimmy Bower and Brian Patton. Drummer Joey LaCaze grooved and held it together with numerous bass players throughout the years, doing so impeccably with Gary Mader over the past decade. Singer Mike IX Williams has always been able to encapsulate the ruins of life through his lyrics and vocal delivery.  All combined, the music is the most genuine, distressing cacophony of sound around.

“Black Sabbath mixed with Black Flag with a little bit of Skynyrd and the element of blues thrown in there,” Bower once said of the band’s sound. In 2014 that style might sound somewhat commonplace. In 1988 it most definitely was not. The band’s second album, 1993’s Take As Needed For Pain is the pinnacle album that other bands of this genre to this day try to reach. Today, EYEHATEGOD sounds as fresh and innovative as ever. When the band released its first new track in over a decade, “New Orleans Is The New Vietnam,” it was clear that nothing about the band had changed. They were touring more than ever and used that time and energy to work on an album’s worth of songs. At the end of 2012 they were ready.

The recording process for Eyehategod started with producer Billy Anderson back in the fold (he recorded 1996’s Dopesick). The session saw both producer and band not quite on the same page and at the end, the album was unfinished. A few months later, the band reconvened at longtime friend Phil Anselmo’s home studio with producer Stephen Berrigan (Down). Both Anselmo and Berrigan helped draw out the missing pieces to one of underground metal’s most anticipated albums in years.

An unexpected tragedy occurred shortly upon returning home from a recent five-week European tour in the Fall of 2013: Joey LaCaze passed away due to respiratory failure. An outpouring of condolences and tributes spread online. Enough can’t be said of the loss felt by the band, family and friends. Fortunately, LaCaze’s drum tracks were captured by Anderson and appear on the album, creating the definitive tribute for the member of the band who encapsulated best just what EYEHATEGOD was all about; seriously not taking yourself too seriously. New Orleans native, Aaron Hill (Mountain Of Wizard, Missing Monuments), took over for Joseph LaCaze without missing a beat, both figuratively and literally. The band hit the road after wrapping up the record and plan to embark upon their most exhaustive touring schedule to date.

EYEHATEGOD - "Robitussin And Rejection"

After a two-year hiatus, Ohio technical grinding death metal peddlers, LOCUSTA, will be embarking on a live takeover through the East Coast this Spring! Slated to commence on May 13th in Raleigh, North Caroline, LOCUSTA will rape faces through Columbia, Knoxville, Columbus, Washington DC, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Providence, Portland, Philadelphia, Harrisonburg and Richmond with additional incursions to be announced in the coming weeks. The band will be joined by drummer Alex Tomlin (Battlemaster, Arsis, Withered et al).

LOCUSTA is currently putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled full-length tentatively scheduled to drop later this year. In the meantime, ravaging preview track, “Contaminant Remains,” will appear on the band’s forthcoming, four-track Dendromorphosis EP which also includes a molten rendition of Death’s “See Through Dreams,” and artwork by renowned designer Lucas Ruggieri (BlackTusk, Kylesa, Ghoul, cough et al). Comments the band of their forthcoming live offensive: “We’re looking forward to hitting the road again after such an agonizingly long break from touring and to what we’re anticipating will be some of the best shows we’ve ever played, both in respect to the caliber of the bands we’re billed with and the fact that our live sets sound tighter than they ever have before. Our set lists will mostly contain songs from the new album, including the first track we’ve ever written that extends past the nine-minute mark, which is easily the darkest and most epic piece of music we’ve written so far. There is more grinding technicality than before, but the songs are also much more mature from a songwriting point of view than what you hear on our first album. LOCUSTA - "Contaminant Remains" (New Album Preview)

Candlelight Records today confirms June 24th as the North American release date for IX, the new album from CORROSION OF CONFORMITY. Produced by the band and long-time comrade John Custer, the album and lead single “On Your Way” will be available for preorders via iTunes, Amazon, and other popular outlets beginning May 13th.

Blabbermouth has been reporting on the recording of the album since early January.  Video footage filmed at the recording studio, including vocalist Mike Dean and drummer Reed Mullin laying down vocal tracks, plus guitarist Woodroe Weatherman tracking some of the albums killer riffs, has been seen by fans around the globe. “The making of IX was drawn out because of us having to step away to do other projects,” comments Dean. “I think being forced to step away kept us hungry and then being back on the case with deadlines casting a shadow gave us a ‘failure is no option’ vibe and that really helped the final product.”

“This album is another step forward for us,” adds Weatherman.  “It seems like we keep heading more and more toward our rawer live sound with the studio recordings.”

Having recently returned from a successful European tour, the band is gearing up for the album’s release and a year full of nonstop touring. “CORROSION OF CONFORMITY are very much firing on all cylinders,” noted Terrorizer Magazine preceding the trio of English dates that were part of the larger Euro tour that had the band visiting ten countries for the first time in more than a year. “We had some good shows,” shares Dean. “To go back to Paris for the first time in years, without a new album, and have the type of response we had just shows me that there is new interest in the more creative heavier rock.  And that this younger group of people is actually checking us out is huge to me.”

The band surprised European audiences with some new material from IX. “We had ‘On Your Way’ in the set and people were jamming along,” notes Dean. “It’s up tempo but syncopated. I thought it fit right in even though technically we were still working it out.” “We did sneak in some new material on the European tour,” asserts Weatherman. “It’s great to see folks digging on stuff they have never heard before.”

Quiet for nearly five years after the release of 2005’s In The Arms Of God, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY regrouped in 2010.  These original jam sessions quickly gave way to the trio’s participation at late summer’s The Power Of The Riff Festival and later 2011’s Maryland Death Fest.  The band’s commitment to the stage, with hundreds of shows performed since 2010, is surely contributing to their chops in the studio. Without doubt, Dean, Weatherman, and Mullin have revitalized their sonic muse. And media and fans concur. “Corrosion of Conformity displays a command of style far beyond anything their 1985 selves could have imagined,” noted Decibel Magazine on review of 2012’s self-titled album. Added Pitchfork, “the trio sounds as commanding as it ever has.”

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY released their self-titled album via Candlelight Records to high praise late February 2012. It was the first new material by the North Carolina trio since 2005. “Corrosion Of Conformity is what you want out of a comeback record – not just a reclamation of lost vigor but a meaningful update on a vintage sound,” said Pitchfork. The album debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart at position 157 and impacted CMJ’s Loud Rock chart at position 8 on its debut week before working its way up to position 1. It remained on the magazine’s popular radio chart Top 10 for eight consecutive weeks. The label reissued the band’s Eye For An Eye (including previously unavailable EP Six Song With Mike Singing) early November 2012. Blabbermouth called it “one of the hallmarks of street ‘core.’” It was followed by the free release of Scion A/V’s Megalodon EP. Writing for IX started in the early months of 2013 with demoing and recording starting by summer’s end. Completed in January, IX clocks in at nearly 45 minutes. Sludge, doom, punk… it’s all in the grooves that fans have come to expect from the band.

The band will perform at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on April 26th, the Ottobar (with High on Fire and Eyehategod) in Baltimore on April 27th, and wrap the month up with a show at Café 611 in Frederick (MD) on April 28.

The city of Fallujah represents the pinnacle of tensions, hostility and destruction that has come to define the world we live in.

This Summer, the world will experience the vicious death metal/deathcore of London-based abusers, ACRANIA, as the trio releases their debut full-length via California’s Unique Leader Records.

The politically charged ACRANIA has spread their message through several independent recordings since their 2012 inception. Their debut split with Blue Waffle and “A Trophy of Corporate Disfigurement” single, both released in their first year as a band, followed by their The Beginning Of The End EP released last year have helped the band forge a devout fanbase of pit-seeking followers. The volume dealers at Tankcrimes are very pleased to announce the official reissue of the legendary Human=Garbage debut full-length from iconic West Coast  sludge metal/crust punk missionaries, DYSTOPIA.

Initially released in 1994 as a five-track LP on the band’s own Life Is Abuse and Misanthropic Records then followed in CD format as a twelve-track brutalizer with help from Common Cause in Germany who booked the band’s very first European tour, DYSTOPIA existed as a four piece with Mindrot’s Dan Kaufman on lead vocals, their doom-laden, metal-tinged, down-tuned punk and “love earth-hate people” philosophy reaping instant adoration from the Orange County underground upon forming. The pure, unadulterated anger and misery that pervades this record places it among the most disturbing, depressing and misanthropic offerings in creation. Said Punk News in a 2007 review, “…a crust-metal classic… the kind of record you don’t want your parents to know you own, lest they send you in for counseling. Truly a sickening, painful, brutal album to listen to, but it is definitely an ‘emotional safety valve.’ Not something to listen to when you’re in a good mood, but if you feel like beatin’ the shit out of everyone you see (or worse) consider putting Human = Garbage on.”

Included on the Tankcrimes edition are tracks from the band’s 1993 splits with Grief and Embittered as well as one additional tune only previously released on the CD collection. Visually, DYSTOPIA took influence from both anarcho-punk collage art and graffiti culture, blending images of societal decay, inner turmoil and humanity’s destruction of the planet to create a style that goes hand in hand with the music. The Human=Garbage 2014 version includes a sixteen-page lyric booklet, the imagery proving indispensable alongside these twelve tracks.

Set for official unveiling this Fall, the Tankcrimes reissue comes packaged as a double LP on clear vinyl with the aforementioned 7” x 7″ sized booklet as well as a download card for the digitally astute. Dallas, Texas-based avant/tech death metal trio, BARING TEETH, is preparing for the long-awaited follow-up to their 2011 debut album, Atrophy, with the mangling Ghost Chorus Among Old Ruins confirmed to drop via Willowtip Records in late November.

Previously known as Soviet, BARING TEETH is an act formed by three musicians having collectively spent time playing in a plethora of acts including Cleric, Between The Buried And Me, Broadcast Sea and others. Following their initial demo, Willowtip signed the band for the 2011 release of their debut album, Atrophy. Ghost Chorus Among Old Ruins shows BARING TEETH sharpening its attack, the unsettled aggression of previous material heightened to a manic, primal belligerence. Immersive, hypnotic, and haunting, the album melds seemingly opposing characteristics — streamlined songwriting and dizzying technicality, ambience and brute force, density and angularity, order and chaos — into a fully realized, cohesive listening experience. Without sacrificing originality, the groundwork of Meshuggah and Gorguts gives in to modern and gritty dissonance where one may at times be reminded of everything from the technical intensity of The Dillinger Escape Plan and Flourishing, to the ominous realms of Deathspell Omega and Ulcerate. Comparative compliments aside, the band’s music continually applies and releases tension, while continually spiraling into a tension-infused amalgamation of chaotic but ultimately natural and captivating experimental death metal.

Recorded by Alex Bhore (This Will Destroy You) at Elmwood Recording, mixed by Keith Souza and Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets (The Body, Battles, Daughters), and mastered by Alan Douches (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, Swans), Ghost Chorus Among Old Ruins takes the extremes of BARING TEETH’s debut to new levels while showcasing a singular vision: no compromise, no respite.

Soaking up respect from generations of hardcore punks and dishing none out, the dastardly denizens of mid-paced punk shred are in trademark form on Confuse & Conquer. With longstanding members Jerry A (vocals), Eric “The Vegetable” Olsen (guitar) and Chris “Spider” Carey (bass) alloyed by the fresh faces of Nathan “Skinny” Richardson (drums) and Brandon Bentley (guitar), POISON IDEA’s brand new full-length proves itself both identifiable and rewarding to listeners who have encountered them at any point from their 1980 birth onwards. Inventive beyond its steadfast roots, yet altogether as blunt as a stagediver’s knee hurtling towards your face, Confuse & Conquer sees the band wasting not a single second on non-music activities, riding high on this wave of creativity. West Coast crust collective, TEMPLE OF DAGON, will unleash their Revelations Of The Spirit EP this June via Black Voodoo Records. Tracked and mixed by Alex Estrada (Xibalba, Touche Amore, Silver Snakes et al) at Earth Capital Studios in Los Angeles, California and mastered by Dan Randall (Cannabis Corpse, Iron Reagan, Fucked Up et al) at Mammoth Sound in Alameda, California, Revelations Of The Spirit is a four track manifestation of audio punishment based on the life and times of central character, the Horrid King. It’s the sound of self-loathing, self-reflection, self-acceptance and self-love. “Sometimes we lose ourselves in the eyes of other people and forget our own perspective,” espouses the band. “Eventually we learn that we need to get back to the being we’re meant to be and not let outside influences affect our purpose. TEMPLE OF DAGON - The Wandering Spirit

Unique Leader Records confirms July 24th as the ominous date French death metal legion, KRONOS, will drop their Arisen New Era long player upon the masses. Recorded, mixed and mastered by David Potvin at Dome Studios (Lyzanxia, Arcania, Under The Abyss etc.) in Angers, France, the band’s latest slab of audio menace features nine scalding tracks of unrelenting barbarity adorned in the distinctive cover art of Pierre Alain (Withering Soul, Silentlie, Cyrax etc.).

A name derived from the Greek god of time, Kronos (or Cronus), father of Zeus, KRONOS was forged over fifteen years ago and quickly established a name for themselves based solely on their musical unity of harmony and violence. Featuring a continuous textual reference to the gods of ancient civilizations, KRONOS punctures ears with a heightened level of dynamics accomplished by only by a select number of bands. It all began in a small town in the Northeastern province of Alsace-Lorraine. Following various lineup shifts and musical experimentation, the pandemonium squad recorded their first demo in 2000. One year later, KRONOS would unleash their Titan’s Awakening debut. Produced entirely by the band, the lethal creation lead to a union with French imprint Warpath Records. By the end of 2001, Titan’s Awakening was expelled once again into the world, this time with a brand new cover designed by Deather (Gurkkhas, Vital Remains, Angel Corpse) as well as a visually disquieting booklet.

KRONOS later joined forces with Spanish label Xtreem Music run by Avulsed’s Dave Rotten, for the unleashing of their next two full-lengths. Second offering, Colossal Titan Strife was discharged in 2004 to the applause of underground critics in the proverbial know. Metal Crypt commended the band’s “diversified guitar work… intricate drum patterns… wicked guitar solos and.. good number of catchy yet non-compromising hooks,” further insisting, “This French outfit is definitely worth checking out,” while Sputnik Music championed, “an impressive album that shows off the capabilities of death metal done right. KRONOS managed to pack a metric ton of creativity into each song and you will barely hear the same riff twice.” Added Last Rites simply, “worth your time if you… need some solid, well-produced death metal.” Third offspring, The Hellenic Terror, emerged in April 2007 and served as an attestation of the band’s enormous capacity for skilled execution and originality. Working on the songs off and on for several years between 2007 and 2011, VEHEMENCE began a methodical, painstaking tracking process for the new record between 2012 and 2014, the album’s guitars, bass, and vocals being recorded at the home studios of guitarists Bjorn Dannov and Kyle Moeller, with the drums being recorded at Villain Studios in Phoenix. When listening to Forward Without Motion, one will discover the refreshing sounds of a band creatively reborn and seasoned by experience. The album flows with a relentless, throat grabbing energy that never flags and begs for repeated spins. This cohesive power is nowhere more apparent than in the strength of the instrumental and vocal performances, which slash and hammer their way out of the speakers with a passion rarely found in the cold, mostly lifeless corpses that are most modern death metal recordings.

With the underground death metal scene now extremely primed for the re-arrival of VEHEMENCE, Forward Without Motion will be released through Battleground records on October 23rd. The record will be issued on 180-gram black vinyl 2xLP in a gatefold package with a free download, limited to 300 copies, as well as a digipak CD version and all digital platforms. The band and label have proudly issued Forward Without Motion’s track listing and cover art by Hal Rotter/Rotting Graphics (Atriarch, Inherit Disease, Barghest).

Philadelphia-based death thrash grave robbers, COFFIN DUST, which features within its repugnant ranks former Exhumed bassist Matt Slime, will unleash their Everything Is Dead full-length via Unholy Anarchy Records this May. 

Recorded and mastered by Ryan Reed at Creep Records Recording Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Everything Is Dead offers up seven tracks of audio deviance including a cover of Slayer’s “Metal Storm/Face The Slayer.”

COFFIN DUST was forged in in 2008 with founding members Slime (ex-Exhumed) and drummer Danny Disgustor conjuring a concept of death thrash with injections of other influences. By late 2010 the band’s first recorded release would come in the form of a crushing split with fellow Philly miscreants Cape Of Bats titled Unimaginable Horror (Grim Winds). Over the next few years, COFFIN DUST released three EPs, and finally unleashed their long awaited debut full-length, This Cemetery, My Kingdom in 2014 via Unholy Anarchy Records. 

Trudging through a plethora of lineup changes and hardships, COFFIN DUST has emerged out of the depths of The City Of Brotherly Love once again with their finest work to date in Everything Is Dead. Expect haunting and viscous sounds that will leave you trapped in your worst nightmares!

COFFIN DUST - Gore Ensemble

On November 25th, Chicago-based death doom collective COKEGOAT will drop the torrential fruit of their latest full-length, Drugs And Animals, upon unsuspecting souls. Engineered, produced, and mixed by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Like Rats) at Bricktop Recording and mastered by Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang, Earthless et al) at Saff Mastering, the nihilistic sounds of Drugs And Animals displays the unit manifesting their own unique brand of heavy, sullen music. The post/doom/death/heavy metal sextet layers Jeff Wojtysiak, Ed Nudd ,and Rebekah Brown on guitars, synths and vocals, while Chase Bentley, Tim Baldwin, and Jordan Schultz add mass with guitar, bass and drums respectively. Six members strong. Six years in the making. Six musical voices.

Founded in the Windy City during the summer of 2011, COKEGOAT embraces the inherent evil of the earth and the soul. Planets dying, earth eating man, ocean birthing fear, moon swallowing heavens… 2013 saw the release of the debut album Vessel. COKEGOAT - Nurture

Greensboro, North Carolina-based heavy rock unit IRATA will release their Tower full-length on May 24th via Small Stone Records.

Since its 2007 genesis at the hands of founding members Ward and Jon Case (bass, vocals), IRATA has mutated restlessly, moving from its initial morphine-infused heavy fusion through math-y metal and finally to the soaring, technical heavy rock of its current approach. Over those dozen years, IRATA has made its presence known in metal and hard rock circles throughout the Southeast and beyond. Thanks to its growth from a trio with guitarist Cheryl Manner to a four-piece with the addition of guitarist Owen Burd, IRATA is evolving yet again.

With Burd’s talents on guitar, vocals, and trumpet added to what had already felt like a complete equation, IRATA is pushing itself to new vocal and instrumental heights.
