This is the second installment of a little experiment I like to do from time to time. I call it the "Mother's Mashup" series which consists of songs that curiously go together in very uncanny ways. Most of the time a pitch drop here and a speed adjustment there will be all it takes to show that we are all singing the same song. ;)

This little collection of music from other artists that has inspired me recently and If you enjoy any of it, please buy it from the artists.

I begin with Jim James' first track on his solo release called "State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U)" and mix that with "Dye" off Tycho's latest album "Awake" which is a blast to drive to btw.

Next we have Tor's "Glass and Stone" from his album "Drum Therapy" mixed with James Blake's "Retrograde". No bedroom is complete without James, take my word for it. 

Then we move into a song off my favorite album of 2012, "When Can" by producers Kettel and Secede. Yes, Kettel made it on my last mashup too. The song is "Ringvanes" and is exactly what I'm all about, mystery forest music. This track is complemented with the beat wizardry of Shigeto with his song "Detroit part 1".

The we take a trip back a decade to whom i consider an unsung electronic hero: Cornelius. This japanese producer is incredible and was very influential to me back in the day. He appears here with his awesome watery guitar track "Drop" mixed with one of the coolest hooks I've heard in a while by Ninja Tune's Matrixxman. The song is called "Enter Me"

Finally we get to an awesome energetic track by Machinedrum called "aeolia" mixed with "85-bit" by who could be the greatest unknown producer around: Woob. "85-bit" is off his album "Repurpose" is a musical journey everyone should take at some point. To me, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever.   

Hopefully this is just in time for your long summer drives...

As masters of the full sensory psychedelic experience, audio-visual group Zebbler Encanti Experience return to Gravitas Recordings with their newest offering, Freakquency. Coining a musical style they refer to as "psytrap", ZEE shows off their aural dynamism by combining elements from dubstep, psytrance, trap, and other bass music styles into five tenaciously coherent songs. Sound design takes center stage in their creations, transporting the listener into an ever expanding kaleidoscopic world populated by entities that are anything but monochrome. Each track on the EP will also be given it's very own visual treatment, creating an ocular story that challenges popular subjective conceptions of beauty and desolation. Zebbler Encanti Experience - Immediacy ft. Ganavya

Jazzzz in ya bones!!! This song was written during my visit to New Orleans Jazz fest 2014.  One of my most inspiring trips/opportunities to share music thus far happened in May this year when "Soul Visions (Rising Appalachia + The Human Experience) were invited to play at the Sugar Mill with Thievery Corporation (live) and Galactic.  What an incredible opportunity to share the stage with such high level musicians.  Jazz fest BLEW MY MIND.  The city becomes completely inundated with music 24 hours a day.  New Orleans stole my heart.

I was staying at my friend Roc's house (Roc you are a LEGEND).  His house is incredibly inspiring (We recorded 2 of the songs from "Soul Visions" in a closet/bathroom at his home (and may I add that his Kitchen is one of the most magical creative zones EVER.  

One night I couldn't sleep.  I was so overwhelmed with inspiration from going to concerts 12 hours a day, that the music in my head would not turn off.  The only thing I could do was work on music.  That night, I wrote this song.  I also had the vision of recording some especially incredible musicians while I was in New Orleans, yet had unfortunately not found the write players yet.  The following morning, I played the new song for Roc and mentioned to him that I'd really love some guitar.  He said (in his lovely Kiwi accent), "I know this pretty rippin guitar player from this band Trombone Shorty" (if you don't know who they are, do yourself a favor and check them out).  The band happened to be in town playing Jazz Fest (they tour 200 shows a year lol).  Roc called Pete Murano (you are also a LEGEND)  and he was super into the idea of us having a session.  

The day I went over to meet him I was a bit nervous.  A lead guitarist from a huge band can often be "not so approachable", but Pete could not be any cooler, down to earth, and over all an absolutely chill guy (and beyond ripping guitar player).  I love working with you Pete and look forward to creating a lot more music (look for another song on this album coming out soon)

Fast forward a couple months, I email Eric Oberthaler  (eO) with some horn section ideas (Eric, you are also a LEGEND) and here we are with a new song (which makes me dance in pants, and sometimes without pants).

Earlier this year Desert Dwellers released their most diverse album in the duo's long career. The Great Mystery was the first full length collaborative project between the main founders Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, and featured a wide range of styles and aesthetics from downtempo and psychedelic dub to tribal trance to exotic house and techno flavors.

To celebrate the special release, Desert Dwellers have curated an ambitious two-part remix album full of contributions from some of the brightest luminaries and rising talents across the underground electronic music landscape. The Great Mystery Remixes Part 1 is slated for a September 21st release, and features sonic reinterpretations from Gaudi, Liquid Stranger, Hibernation, An-ten-nae, Kaminanda, AtYya, Tribone, Twin Shape, Land Switcher, Drumspyder, and Govinda. Desert Trax is thrilled to bring fans a star-studded remix pack for ”Saraswati's Twerkaba,” the smash lead track from Desert Dwellers' Clear Path compilation, which was originally released in 2016 by Sofa Beats. The exotically innovative original from Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe sees the Desert Dwellers blending their signature downtemple dub sounds with global club flavors. It was inspiration enough to draw in a wide range of remixers amped to take on the task.

French guitarist and glitch sensation CloZee joined forces with LuSiD for an earthy, percussive take. Southern California bass legend David Starfire leaned more into the clubby side of the yoga twerk track. Mindex and Landswitcher both went dark and dangerous on their respective remixes, pulling heavily from the subsonic sampling and fearlessly pushing the track into the cavernous abyss. Patiently building from mild murmur to full on twisted roar, Nanosphere stretches Saraswati into a psy opus. Israeli sensation TRIBONE stripped the cut down all the way to its primal, midtempo stomp, and there is no doubt his take will turn dance floors loose with its relentless pulse.

This track is one of an assemblage of 6 compositions I've created for my debut release. I am releasing this unfinished version so people can get a preview of the set I and Jason Takahashi will be performing at Rootwire Festival 2K12 in Logan OH. All the songs are tuned to specific solfeggio frequencies and have been shown to aid humans in many different healing and empowering ways. Many composers have created music and soundscapes for these frequencies, most of them slow and atmospheric. These tracks are intended to be high energy to encourage ecstatic dance states in the listener. Working closely with these frequencies has done wonders for me personally and i encourage anyone who is interested to further explore this realm.
