When I first heard the outro of Some Souls, it broke my heart. Those beautiful chords, that atmosphere — tucked away at the end of the track, probably unnoticed by many in a time when people skip through songs so quickly. I HAD to make a remix. I wanted to give this music the space I felt it deserved.
So, I kept the arrangement simple. Nothing flashy, nothing to distract from these chords that still haven't bored me, even after listening to them at least a thousand times. I hope you feel what I feel.
Endless thanks to ele, aal, and dalié for letting me work with this track. It’s now part of the original EP as a bonus track.

Restoring balance to our series of earthly compilations, we have Earthly Tapes 04. So far, we’ve presented to you an array of artists with a collective goal of sharing the wonders of musical exploration with no borders.

On this release, you’ll find 7 wonderful artists with native roots connected to 5 different countries across South America and Europe expressing their creativity. In keeping with the series so far, nature and electronica intertwine in synchronicity throughout these 6 tracks, creating a space as befitting heady dance floor groovers as it is stay-at-home explorers.

This project has been 2 years in the making and has chopped and changed in that time. For '04' we are highlighting the work of some of the female producers who have been creating amazing music within the scene that we’re fortunate to be a part of.

Fittingly, the countdown to the release of this next chapter coincides with International Women’s Day. We’re truly blessed to be able to share this project with you.

Earthly Measures are proud to present the release of ‘El Búho - Cumbias Imaquinarias’, this time on wax with some added remixes.

'Cumbias Imaquinarias' is an EP that flows full circle with one of El Búho’s earliest inspirations for making electronic music; digital Cumbia. It was a scene that exploded out of Buenos Aires around 2008 and went global. The scene soon saturated and fell out of fashion, but gave birth to artists like Chancha Via Circuito, Frikstailers, El Remolon and was a big inspiration for him as a young producer.

For El Búho there was always something there; the entrancing magic of the Cumbia rhythm reimagined for the electronic dancefloor. Cumbia is a music that is globally connected but also so diverse, evolving and growing into many subshoots of this one simple rhythm. This EP presents three Cumbia’s and one Porro rhythm (a derivation of the Cumbia rhythm from the Colombian Caribbean which evolved into its own style).

Joining El Búho on remix duties for this release are ARN4L2, Lagartijeando, Auntie Flo, La Jungla, Earthly Measures x Dreems, La Forasteria and Sun Sone. Each artist offering a completely unique approach and their own magic touch to this El Búho masterpiece.

The original release saw his first venture into the world of Balearic music and, rightly so, received the nod of approval from many big names within the scene. So, we thought it was only fair to expand this release further, connecting artists on one release, from Argentina, France, Canada, the US and the UK, all with one common love of the more delicate downtempo sounds.

We’re super happy to have John Beltran, Eddie C, Coyote, Léna C, Pete Herbert, Ruf Dug, Blair French, Mr Beatnick and ourselves on the remixes. Each artist crafting their own take on the original, resulting in a shimmering collection of blissed-out tracks just in time for summer season.
