Dear friends – Thank you for listening to my latest song, MrElyasi.  Mr Elyasi was an old man who volunteered at Bahai summer camps in Iran when I was a teenager.  Mr. Elyasi loved to hang out with the music Kids (the Motrebs as we called ourselves jokingly) he was quick with a rhyme and always told us stories and quotes about the importance of music and the arts in the Bahai faith.  Sadly after the revolution of 1979 I heard he was one of the first group of Bahais arrested and executed.  He’s been on my mind as I was writing this song.  I was also under heavy influence of Sohrab Sepehri’s divine poetry!  
The words are in Farsi so a big apology to my English speaking friends if they don’t understand the words (and perhaps a bigger apology to my Farsi speaking friends because they do…hahaha!) 
It’s a blessing to have a singer/songwriter daughter who is always giving support, advice and great feedback to her dad.  Thank you Shaudi joon.

I wrote Pooch (or del-na-bandi) over 30 years ago as a reminder to myself to practice detachment.  
This song always takes me back to the times we jammed with Farhad Bahrami and company at his lovely place in pacific beach.  All the inspirations, all the beautiful music we made together and how I was always received with a sincere welcome and great hospitality by both Farhad and dear Yassi.  I will always cherish those memories.

Shorter walks, benches at the park, you don’t leave home after dark I guess… you must be getting older.

Back pain, wrist pain, knee and neck and shoulder, you move to San Diego, Seattle’s getting colder, don’t ask me why, you know you’re getting older.

Ghoroob-e-Tahzeh (A New Sunset)

It was a whole lot of fun writing this song with my dear Shaudi Bianca Vahdat. This is a simple singer/songwriter version with yours truly (manooch vahdat)  on guitar and vocals.
