Test Subject 1.24 Marley Swain @marleyys gently guides us through sonification of a dense subaquatic ecosystem, separating from the constraints of linearity to explore and circle back to every corner of the landscape. Feel yourself squeeze through bubbling, dimly lit caverns, brush past forests of kelp and coral, and get caught up in turbulent ocean currents as you explore Marley's Drexciyan world....

"The image for this mix hit me almost instantly. At first It was giving deep sea vibes and the more I looked at it I started visualising a forest in the mix too. So my imagination landed somewhere inside of some kind of aquatic forest deep below. Maybe somewhere Drexiyans go for a hike. Which I guess is why I got into some sub aquatic / deep bass kinda tip!"

Favoring synths, lo-fi and trip-hop along with a thematic tribute to retro anime Evangelion, @o-xander's sets shape a nebulous atmosphere, filled with cultural references that go beyond the realm of music.

Lorenz Linder, the Leipzig based DJ and producer better known as Mix Mup has consolidated a strong identity of records over his 20 years of releasing music, building a stellar reputation of crafting creative abstracted groovers and house music with minimal embellishments. We caught up Linder to discuss taking his Molto alias on the road, his passion for building musical based sculptures and his 3rd solo EP for Will Bankhead's The Trilogy Tapes. Reflecting his current November mood, this hour-long Truancy Volume demonstrates the off-kilter and rhythmically devious nature of a Mix Mup record to a tee. A familiar and gratifying territory for those who have regularly followed his solo work and collaborations alongside frequent co-conspirator Kassem Mosse, the mix opens with a track from Mix Mup's forthcoming Trilogy Tapes EP, before ruggedly detailing into tracks from Benjamin Brunn, unreleased Even Tuell, past Truancy Volume mixers Space Afrika and local Leipzig talent CFM.

All kinds of sounds from all over the world. Records I've collected over the years - the ones I keep coming back to.

This one was recorded in one-take, with no plan other than 'strictly favourites' and rooting towards less electronic sounds perhaps. 

The recording is a bit hot in places, I guess I got excited and didn't realise the volume was a little high. Ah well, just imagine it's blasting out of an old FM Radio. Sound good to me in a nice & ruff way, anyway.
