Today’s premiere is a no-nonsense techno remix from one of Belgium’s finest musical exports, Milo Spykers. He has flipped a track from one of Ireland’s most sought-after DJs and producers, best recognised as Aero. Following his latest release on the Parisian label KR Records.

Aero’s first release of the year sees him make his mark on the impressive Parisian label KR Records, curated by Ket Robinson since its inception in 2019. Aero finds himself in good company, with Milo Spykers tasked with the remix duties on the ‘Suffocated EP’ release.

Some KR Records alumni include Alarico, Quelza, Kaiser, Pfirter, VSK, Joton, Pär Grindvik, and more. As Aero and Milo Spykers complete the 38th release that is to be made available to the public on the 20th of January.

Milo boasts various impressive releases since he began his production journey. His first 3 EP releases landed on Amelie Lens Lenske Records, followed by additional musical contributions to Airod’s Elyxir Records, Fabric Records, and Black Kawa$aki Ninja remix on his Low Life Club label. His musical inspiration is drawn from a variety of past and present influences of the 90s and contemporary techno, as well as EBM, rave, and trance.

Milo’s interpretation of ‘Go By The Wall And Tiddle The Bricks’ is relentlessly full, fast-paced, and sinister. Utilising gated vocals to increase the tension and build the track, which is finely pieced together with menacing low-end, swinging drums and murky atmospheres to complete the production. Milo possesses a distinct flavour of techno, one that draws noticeable comparisons with Aero and is displayed so eloquently on this remix. Truly stellar stuff.

Aero - Go By The Wall And Tiddle The Bricks (Milo Spykers Remix) [KR038]

Naples-based up-and-comer Mystics is making impressive explorations in the underground scene. His fourth output will land on 47 and marks the apex of his heads down, rolling approach to techno and a development of his left-field futuristic sound.

The extended six-track EP sets the scene with “The Unexplored Pt. 1,” a strung out opener that spits out irradiant shards of glitch and gated vocals. The rest of the EP builds a cohesive canvas from this sonic palette. In “The Unexplored Pt. 2,” washes of static and breakbeats barrel under a drone-like pad, while “Oxford RM” steamrolls ahead with four-to-the-floor kick drums, barbed wire textures and an orbiting melody. On the B-side, the artist leans into his penchant for IDM with “But If” and “Shrouded In Mystery” with their wormhole, Warp-like ambience.Never leaning too far into the past, these songs form a collection of visionary rhythmic techno, conjuring a vision of a world that is as movingly melancholic as it is haunting and spare.

Tresor is proud to present the debut split 12" from Chloe Lula and Ireen Amnes. Meeting in the darker, harder-edged side of the Berlin techno scene in 2019, the pair have regularly collaborated and performed together, but Synergy marks the first time they've shared a record sleeve. Amnes describes Synergy as "the world we built while thinking about our journey as friends and the connection we share as people and artists," and while the record highlights their relationship and shared influences, it also showcases how each has grown into their respective lane. 

Amnes' tracks lean into significantly more distorted territory, characterized by a dense fog of grainy pads punctured by sharp, expertly-programmed percussion. On "Our Bodies," these fragments are sculpted into driving hardware gear, replete with distant vocals and acidic squelches, where "Fragments of Desire" makes space for a more somber attitude, descending into murky, psychedelic electro. 

In counterpoint to Amnes' deep atmospherics, Lula's contributions are driven by intricate sound design and a focus on dancefloor impact. Taking cues from Regis and the Birmingham techno sound, she reins in the distortion of 2021's Errant Bodies for aufnahme + wiedergabe in favor of rolling techno and breakbeat-inspired rhythms that nod to her EBM influences. Making use of the extra space, she builds tension through heaving, textured basslines and crescendos of noise, and on EP closer "Event Horizon," she carves through the beat with her own metallic vocals. 

Synergy includes a digital bonus track from each artist. Lula's sees her pushing deeper into finely-tooled techno territory, her drums at a swift, driving gallop, surrounded by ominous swaths of reverb. In contrast, Amnes crafts a gritty warehouse trip, sharpening the angles of her drums and detuning her synths until they sound bent and alien. Complete with the EP's physical cuts, these tracks are a testament to how the pair can simultaneously complement and contrast with each other, departing from their shared sonic origins and ending up in wildly different destinations.
